]]>The Originals’ Carina MacKenzie will executive produce the show and will write the script. Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank of Amblin Television will executive produce, along with Lawrence Bender and Kevin Kelly Brown. Based on Melinda Metz’s book, Roswell High, and the WB series created by Jason Katims, the new show will include an immigration twist.
The network published a description of the project: “After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.”
The original series starred Jason Behr, Shiri Appleby, Katherine Heigl, Brendan Fehr, Majandra Delfino, Colin Hanks, and Nick Wechsler. It revolved around high school students in the town of Roswell and the love story between human Liz (Appleby) and alien Max (Behr).
The announcement comes days after The CW ordered a pilot for a Charmed reboot, headed by Jane the Virgin‘s Jennie Urman. The network also ordered five other projects – Playing Dead, In The Dark, Skinny Dip, The End of the World As We Know It, Spencer.

]]>After announcing the Charmed reboot lsat year as a prequel series to the 1998 original, CW has unveiled interesting details about the upcoming project.
CW has released an official description of the Charmed reboot: “This fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series centers on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.”
So apparently now, the reboot is about a trio of sibling witches but with a feminist twist. The network also dropped the prequel idea and the reboot will be set in present day. This sets the reboot up for the possibility of appearances by the original cast members.
