Chilling Adventures of Sabrina offers a darker look at the world Archie Comics heroine Sabrina Spellman, as she navigates the pressures of living a double-life. Kids who grew up reading about her adventures couldn’t wait to see her in a new light, and that’s exactly what Netflix gave them.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa thanked his partners for supporting this darker vision of the world’s most famous teen witch and said he’s thrilled to continue her incredible story.

Despite the fact they never reveal streaming numbers, Chilling Adventures received good reviews and this quick renewal indicates it was a hit with the viewers, as well.

The second season will premiere on 5 April, 2019, and Netflix will bring it back for another 16 episodes spread across seasons 3 and 4. Production should start sometime next year, with Kiernan Shipka returning as the titular teenage witch.

Part 2 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is heading our way. The series will make its return in 2019, and will be available for streaming April 5.

The streaming giant has dropped the first teaser trailer for the upcoming season of its dark reboot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

The trailer features Sabrina Spellman’s (Kiernan Shipka) new look. Now that she’s signed the Book of the Beast and embraced her witchy side, Sabrina pairs her new platinum hair with black ensembles. The trailer also includes a nod to Melissa Joan Hart’s Sabrina with Kiernan’s Sabrina magically changing outfits in front of her mirror.

It looks like season two has lots more chaos coming fans’ ways with new romances, including Sabrina’s beau Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch), developing feelings for Roz (Jaz Sinclair) and things heating up between Sabrina and Nicholas Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood). And of course who can forget the demons, beasts and witchcraft!

The nine-episode second season is one episode short of season 1, but we do have that Christmas special holiday out December 14 to keep us warm till then.

We’ll have to wait a little bit longer to find out, since Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina won’t premiere until October 26th. Netflix nailed it once again and found a perfect date to release one of their shows. What a better way to welcome Halloween than watch a teen witch getting into magical shenanigans with her friends?

Judging by the new trailer Sabrina’s new journey will be much creepier than the one we watched throughout our childhood. She’ll be played by Kiernan Shipka, who proved her worth with breakout role in Mad Men.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa serves as showrunner of this teen fantasy drama. He was also in charge of creating its companion piece Riverdale, which takes place in the same fictional universe.

Archie Comics, the publisher behind the Riverdale and Sabrina comic book characters, tweeted on Tuesday, showing Sabrina’s iconic banged bob and headband with the silhouette of Salem the cat, against a bloody red backdrop.

The upcoming series recreates the adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch into a dark coming-of-age story that features thrilling scenes, occult, and witchcraft. The adaptation finds Sabrina Spellman (played by Kiernan Shipka) struggling to reconcile her dual character – half witch and half mortal – while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her loved ones and the world.

Jaz Sinclair will portray the role of Rosalind Walker, Sabrina’s best friend, while Ross Lynch will take on Sabrina’s boyfriend, Harvey Kinkle. Miranda Otto and Lucy Davis will play Sabrina’s witch aunts, Zelda and Hilda Spellman.

Lynch told ET in March how the new Sabrina will be different from the beloved ‘90s sitcom, played by Melissa Joan Hart, saying that the Netflix series is “based off the newer [comic],” which is darker than the previous one.

“There were certain reservations that I had to say yes to this project obviously, because there was a lot of music going and ‘Preacher Man’ is very exciting and a lot of people are reacting to it,” he explained at the time, while he was promoting the release of “Preacher Man,” his debut song with his band, The Driver Era. “But I really believe in this project. I just had a good feeling about it.”

“I’m happy to say that so far my expectations have been exceeded,” Lynch continued. “Just the aesthetic of everything and the actors that were cast and [Sabrina creator] Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] … all the visions are coming together and they’re effective.”
