]]>The list of contenders for the best film includes some of the biggest box office hits of the year, such as Crazy Rich Asians and Deadpool 2. Some of the more underrated, but equally impressive projects received a nod in limited release category.
GLAAD president and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis believes these films, like hundreds of other nominees they recognized in the past, challenged misconceptions and inspired LGBTQ acceptance.
“The images and stories recognized by the GLAAD Media Awards over the past 30 years raised the bar for LGBTQ inclusion in the media industry and changed the hearts and minds of countless audience members around the world,” said Ellis.

]]>Pitt’s appearance in Deadpool 2 was one of the most unforgettable cameos in recent memory. If your mind wandered off for a split second while watching it, you probably missed this epic moment. He played a superhero called the Vanisher, who was a part of Deadpool’s X-Force team. According to the lead actor, Pitt didn’t even want to be paid for joining the movie.
“I was told all he wants is a cup of coffee and I said, ‘Like a franchise or just one individual cup of coffee?’ And I was told one individual cup of coffee, which was really his way of saying, ‘I’m doing it for nothing.’ And it was a total solid and the nicest thing anyone could do.” explained Reynolds.
The Vanisher spent the entire movie invisible, until his final shot. That’s when fans discovered he’s played by none other than Pitt and this is what makes his cameo so amazing.
“I just loved it, because what’s more irresponsible than taking one of the biggest movie stars in the world and giving him a role that is utterly wordless and invisible with an exception of three frames of film? Yeah that’s kind of amazing,” said Reynolds.

]]>The plot is also significantly richer than the first Deadpool. Cable travels from the future to take down teenage-mutant Russell Collins (Julian Dennison) aka ‘Firefist’ before he can kill his family. Deadpool takes on the challenge of not only saving Russell but of deterring him from the path of evil.
A big highlight of the movie is the eclectic group of whacky characters that Deadpool assembles for his “super-group” of heroes which he jestingly names the “X-force”. Domino (Zazie Beatz) deserves a shout-out for his extremely entertaining performance and Brad Pitt’s clever cameo as Marvel’s ‘Vanisher’ is also definitely worth a mention.
To top off the genuinely exciting, laugh-out-loud feature, the after-credit scenes are some of the best yet in the Marvel franchise. In one of them, Deadpool goes back in time to kill the other version of himself in Wolverine Origins in order to ‘clean up the timeline.’
All in all, Deadpool 2 is funnier, more exciting and quite honestly better than the former Deadpool movie in every way. It’s also a refreshing break from the intensity of Avengers: Infinity War and DC’s Justice League.

]]>The authorities said that WorkSafeBC, which oversees occupational safety in the province, and The Coroners Service of British Columbia are leading the investigation and according to them, the accident took place at 1000 Block of West Waterfront Road, Vancouver B.C., near Jack Poole Plaza.
“We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of ‘Deadpool 2’ this morning,” 20th Century Fox said in a statement. “Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time.”
Deadpool 2 is the sequel to the 2016 movie starring Ryan Reynolds that grossed over $363 million locally.
Reynolds, released his statement on social media hours after the death, writing, “Today, we tragically lost a member of our crew while filming Deadpool. We’re heartbroken, shocked and devastated… but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment.”
“My heart pours out to them — along with each and every person she touched in this world,” he added.
Production on the sequel started in late June and at the time, Reynolds posted a photo on social media with caption, “Feels good to be back.”
Since then, the 40-year-old actor has shared several behind the scenes sneak peeks. Last week, he shared a photo with local police thanking them for being helpful while filming.
“With great power, comes great… inconvenience. Huge shout-out to the incredibly hard working #VPD,” he wrote on Instagram. “And I’d like to especially thank the great people of Vancouver for putting up with road closures and traffic delays as we film Spider-Man downtown. #YVR #GreatCops.”
Deadpool 2 is set to hit theaters in 2018.
