Iger recently traveled to Hong Kong to attend the opening of the new Disneyland attraction “World of Frozen”, and shared some amazing news about this franchise during an interview with Good Morning America.

“Frozen 3 is in the works, and there might be a Frozen 4 in the works, too. But, I don’t have much to say about those films right now. But Jenn Lee who created Frozen, is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories,” said Iger.

Frozen songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez addressed the news on social media and revealed they’ll return to pen music for the two follow-up films. They previously won an Academy Award and Grammy Award for the hit song “Let It Go” from the first Frozen film.

Frozen came out in 2013 and went on to win an Oscar for best animated feature. It produced a feature-length sequel Frozen II in 2019, in addition to inspiring short films, live shows, and TV specials.

Iger announced the sequels during the Q1 earnings call, following some sour news about budget cuts and thousands of layoffs at Disney parks.

“I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises. We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises,” said Iger.

Pixar’s Toy Story franchise earned Disney $3.03 billion at the global box office so far, with Toy Story 4 alone grossing $1.07 billion in 2019. The spinoff Lightyear was released in June last year, but it struggled to find the financial and critical success of the original franchise.

As for Frozen, the sequel to the original movie came out in 2019, grossing $1.45 billion. The sequel to Zootopia was a long time coming, and fans have been asking for it ever since this movie came out in 2016 and went on to win an Oscar for the best animated feature.

Anna and Elsa will make their way across the country beginning with an official opening at the Pantages in Los Angeles. Not a lot is known about the tour as the itinerary has yet to be set and casting has yet to be announced. What is known is that the production will keep its musical direction of two-time Tony winner Stephen Oremus and conductor Dave Metzger during the tour. 

The production opened on Broadway in March and received three Tony nominations for best score, book and musical. Music for the musical was composed by the Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez duo, the book is by Jennifer Lee while Michael Grandage serves as director. 

“The only reason to expand this piece into a full-length Broadway musical was to dive much deeper into the idea of a family that can get frozen into dysfunction because of fear and shame,” Anderson-Lopez said of Frozen on-stage adaptation to The Hollywood Reporter. “To come to the theater and sit and have this analog experience with other people, allowing your emotions to really get as big as the emotions onstage, is something that we kind of need, and it can be really healing.”

Screenwriter and director, Jennifer Lee drops heavy hints on the much-anticipated sequel to Disney’s icy hit after it opened on Broadway.

“We’ve done amazing stuff on Frozen 2 and have a couple of songs already that are blowing my mind,” Lee said. “We do about six screenings that we hand draw, and so I’m on the second draft, second screening. There’s no shortcut. What we have today hopefully will be 10% of what we have when it opens.”

Lee, who also wrote the book for the musical, spoke of how collaborating on the on-stage adaptation, crossed over to the sequel. “There’s this really fluid thing going on that we didn’t know about in the beginning as we were getting to know each other,” she said. “We learned this wonderful sort of chicken-and-egg back and forth. Even for the film, we’re building it like a musical, where the story and songs are intertwined and matter to each other.”

Disney’s Frozen opened on Broadway in St. James Theatre on Marche 22.

In the shocking ending of David Fincher’s serial killer drama, Paltrow’s character’s boyfriend (Played by Paltrow’s ex Brad Pitt), is led to a mysterious box in the middle of the desert by the killer John Doe (played by Kevin Spacey) to find the actress’s character’s head in a box for the film’s final act.

Paltro dressed up as her slaughtered character, complete with a cardboard box around her head and a shocked expression on her face. As for Falchuk, co-creator of American Horror Story, he wore an orange jumpsuit with black shackles binding his wrists and white sneakers, recreating John Doe’s ensemble in the desert.

The Oscar winner actress simply captioned the photo with a Jack-o-Lantern emoji.
