Hulu has given the upcoming series, titled How I Met Your Father, a 10-episode order. It will follow the adventures of Sophie, a woman telling her son the story of how she met his father, just like Ted Mosby in the original series. The story will start in the present-day, and follow Sophie and her close-knit group of friends as they try to figure out who they are and what they want in life.

Duff couldn’t be more excited to take on this role, and she thanked Hulu Originals and the executive producers Craig Thomas and Carter Bays for entrusting her with this huge responsibility. “I’ve been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie. As a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, I’m honored and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby,” said Duff in a statement.

This isn’t the first proposed How I Met Your Mother spinoff. Before the original series wrapped up, CBS was plotting a female-led spinoff How I Met Your Dad starring Greta Gerwig, but the plan fell through because the showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger were tied up with their work on This Is Us.

That’s right — the next show to get a reboot is Lizzie McGuire.

The new series was announced at the D23 Expo convention on Friday. 

The news was confirmed by Duff herself via social media. Duff took to Instagram Friday night to announce that she is going back star as the teenage starlet, this time as a thirty-something woman navigating life in New York City.

“The good news is, just like me and everybody who loved Lizzie and has grown up with her, Lizzie’s also grown up,” Duff revealed about the revival. “She’s older, she’s wiser, she has a much bigger shoe budget, which is super exciting. She has her dream job. She has kind of the perfect life right now.”

She continued: “She’s working as an apprentice to a fancy New York City decorator,” she said. “She has her dream guy, who owns a cool SoHo restaurant. She has her dream apartment in Brooklyn. And she’s getting ready to celebrate her 30th birthday.”

Lizzie McGuire ran from 2001-2004. The Lizzie McGuire Movie was released in 2003.

Keith Cox, president of development and production for Paramount Network and TV Land, broke the news in an official statement and said he’s looking forward to seeing what the creative team behind this show comes up with in the future.

“Season after season, Younger has continued to reach new heights and build an incredibly loyal fan base. We love this talented and amazing cast and can’t wait to see what Darren has in store for season seven,” said Cox.

Younger follows the adventures of a single mom, who starts lying about her age to land her dream job and completely reinvent her life, after being mistaken for younger than she really is. It stars Sutton Foster, with Hilary Duff, Debi Mazar and Miriam Shor in supporting roles.

And we were invincible,” the 30-year-old actress began her post. “I am having to look into your beautiful amber almond shaped eyes and tell you goodbye today. And honestly I would take the pain of losing you 10x over to have had you for even a quarter of that time my dubie.”

Duff thanked her dog for being there through thick and thin. She ended her message with a heartbreaking goodbye to her longtime companion.
