]]>Ricky Stanicky centers on Dean, JT, and Wes (Zac Efron, Andrew Santino, and Jermaine Fowler), three best friends who made up an imaginary friend Ricky Stanicky after a childhood prank gone wrong… and still use him as an alibi for their immature behavior two decades later.
Things get tricky when their partners get suspicious, asking to meet the fabled Mr. Stanicky. Instead of admitting he doesn’t exist, the trio hires a washed-up actor “Rock Hard” Rod (John Cena) to bring Ricky Stanicky to life, but they start wishing they’ve never made him up in the first place after Rod takes the role too seriously.
Ricky Stanicky will also star William H. Macy, Lex Scott Davis, and Anja Savcic. Green Book’s Peter Farrelly directed and co-wrote this buddy comedy, drawing inspiration from Jeff Bushell’s original script, which landed on the Black List in 2010.
Ricky Stanicky will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 7.

]]>Universal officially confirmed Friday that John Cena has joined the forthcoming installment of the high action film.
Dwayne Johnson aka the Rock will not be returning for the ninth installment of the action franchise, so it only makes sense that a new house-size professional wrestler has been cast and joined the crew.
Details of Cena’s character are being secret, however, in his original Instagram post Diesel did say to expect “a badass.”
Justin Lin is directing from a screenplay by Dan Casey.
Production is set to begin next month for a Spring 2020 premiere.

The story reportedly centers on a family that gets stuck in an old abandoned movie studio. The sets come to life and the family members find themselves stuck in various movies.
The pro wrestler turned actor first went into the movie business starring in Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck in 2015, followed by Blockers and most recently Bumblebee. His next project is the family comedy Playing With Fire, which begins shooting next month.
The upcoming untitled feature re-teams Bateman with Game Night writer Mark Perez. Perez will pen the script. He is currently writing the Carmen Sandiego adaptation for Netflix. Bateman is producing with Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films along with Jeff Kirschenbaum and Joe Roth for Roth Kirschenbaum Films.
