]]>House of the Dragon is set nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and it chronicles the beginning of the end of the House Targaryen. They once ruled the Seven Kingdoms with an iron fist, but it all came crashing down after the death of King Viserys, which kicked off a tragic war of succession known as the “Dance of the Dragons”.
Two new trailers tease the clash between the Green and Black Council, two opposing sides of the Targaryen family fighting for the Iron Throne. The “Green” trailer sees Alicent Hightower trying to help her son King Aegon prove to the world he’s one true king. His half-sister Queen Rhaenyra plots her revenge after he stole her rightful place on the Iron Throne in the “Black” trailer.
The show’s second season will star Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. It will feature eight new episodes, set to debut on HBO on June 16.

]]>According to its official synopsis, Last Night in Soho centers on a young aspiring fashion designer, Eloise (Thomasin McKenzie), who is mysteriously transported to 1960s London. ]]>News of Smith’s casting comes only a few days after Dominic Monaghan joined the franchise. Fans were super-excited about this announcement because Lost actor already worked with director J.J. Abrams in the past… but he’s not the only one! Keri Russell, who rose to prominence after playing the lead in his show Felicity, also recently joined the lineup.
Matt Smith’s casting is just the cherry on the cake since he already has experience going on epic space adventures. He became a household name after playing the eleventh incarnation of The Doctor in the BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who. The international audience knows him as Prince Philip from the Netflix historic drama The Crown. Smith even received an Emmy nom for this role, but we’re yet to find out if he’s going to win.
The regular cast of Star Wars sequel trilogy will reprise their roles in the new movie. Abrams recently stated he’s planning to use previously unreleased footage of the late Carrie Fisher to bring Leia Organa’s story to a satisfying conclusion. The director made this decision after getting a blessing from her daughter Billie Lourd, who also stars in the movie. Star Wars: Episode IX comes to theaters on December 20, 2019.

]]>The post “The Crown:” Matt Smith was paid more than Claire Foy appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
]]>The news comes from executives at Left Bank Pictures, the production company behind the critically acclaimed series. During the INTV Conference in Jerusalem on Tuesday, it was acknowledged that Matt Smith, who portrays Prince Philip, earned more than his co-star Claire Foy for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II.
Despite earning a best actress Golden Globe for Season 1 and a Golden Globe nomination in the same category for Season 2, as well as an Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actress in a drama for Season 1, the execs said that the difference in pay stemmed from the fact that Smith came to Netflix as an established actor, unlike Foy who was still relatively unknown. Smith was no nominated for an Emmy or a Golden Globe for his role.
According to Variety, the production budget per episode stands at around $7 million for the show’s first two seasons. If that figure is correct, that means The Crown is one of the most expensive television series on air.
In light of the slew of outraged comments from the shows fans, and the fact that Foy and Smith’s pay represent a fraction of the production costs, perhaps it would be wise that the executives consider revising the pay disparity.

]]>If he does, he will play opposite Olivia Colman who will portray Queen Elizabeth II. The cast rotation is an attempt to reflect onscreen the time gap as well as the aging of the characters. Out are Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby, in are Colman and Helena Bonham Carter who has been cast to portray Her Royal Majesty’s Princess Margaret.
After Colman’s casting was confirmed by the streaming giant, the Golden Globe winner talked to the BBC about replacing Foy and said: “I think Claire Foy is an absolute genius–she’s an incredibly hard act to follow. I’m basically going to re-watch every episode and copy her.”
In the past, Smith teased that he knows who his replacement will be, telling Seth Meyers, “If it’s the person it could be, I was just totally flattered I thought, ‘How marvelous.’ If it’s the person I think it might be, and he’s incredibly handsome as well. I have morphed into someone far better looking than I.”
The Crown has won three Emmys, two Golden Globes, two BAFTA Awards and three Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Season two dropped last month on Netflix and season three is expected to drop in 2019.
