]]>Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), Nicolas Cage (Leaving Las Vegas), Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Brendan Fraser (The Whale), Jessica Lange (Tootsie), Al Pacino (Scent of a Woman), Ke Huy Quan Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once), and Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) have also been added to the presenter lineup, and they all have one thing in common.
With the exception of Zendaya and Michelle Pfeiffer, all the newly announced presenters are previous Oscar winners, and that’s not a coincidence. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming Oscar ceremony will feature a “Field of Dreams-like format”, which will see five past acting winners introduce the five current nominees for each award.
The 96th Academy Awards will return to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 10, and the rest of the presenters will be announced in the coming days. Oppenheimer will enter the ceremony with 13 nominations, followed by Poor Things with 11 and Killers of the Flower Moon with 10.

]]>Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) and Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once) will return to present awards this year after walking away with the Golden Globe trophies last year. They won awards for best supporting actress and best actress in musical or comedy, respectively, so it’s safe to assume they’re presenting awards in these categories.
The first round of presenters will also include former Golden Globe winners Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout) and Julia Garner (Ozark), alongside Suits stars Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams, comedian George Lopez, Justin Hartley (This Is Us), and Will Ferrell (Barbie).
Barbie will enter the night as the top nominee after scoring nine nominations, closely followed by Oppenheimer with eight and Killers of the Flower Moon and Poor Things with seven. Succession is the top contender in the TV categories with nine nods, while The Bear and Only Murders in the Building are right behind with five each.
The 2024 Golden Globe Awards will take place at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on January 7, with stand-up comedian Jo Koy serving as the host.

]]>The casting announcement was made via the franchise’s official social media channels. The news also revealed that Yeoh is set to play scientist Dr. Karina Mogue. it is unknown in which of the sequels she’ll appear in or in how many.
“Throughout her career, Michelle has always created unique and memorable characters. I look forward to working with Michelle to do the same thing on the Avatar sequels,” Cameron said in a statement.
The Crazy Rich Asians and Star Trek: Discovery star joins returning Avatar stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, Matt Gerald, and Sigourney Weaver. She also joins newcomers to the Avatar family, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, and Oona Chaplin.
The original 2009 film still holds the title of highest grossing film of all time, with $2.7 billion in the global box office. The first sequel is slated for December 2020. Filming officially started on the first two sequels in September 2017.

“Being a part of this Universe and this character specifically has been such a joy for me to play. I can’t wait to see where it all goes – certainly I believe it will go where no WOMAN has ever gone before!” said the actress.
Stand-alone series starring Michelle Yeoh isn’t the only character driven Star Trek spinoff being developed by CBS All Access. They’re also working on Jean-Luc Picard series with Patrick Stewart in the lead.

]]>The star is in negotiations with producers at CBS Television Studios. The Crazy Rich Asians star is in talks with the network to see her character get a spin-off into a new series. Should a stand-alone Captain Emperor Georgiou series happen at CBS All Access, it would be the fifth overall in CBS All Access’ Star Trek franchise.
As the franchise grows and the Trekverse expands, it seems there’s room for Yeoh to helm her own fleet. The stand-alone series would most likely focus on her character’s adventures in Starfleet’s Section 31 division, the secret organization first introduced on the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine series.
Representatives for CBS All Access and CBS TV Studios declined to comment.
