DJ Pauly D and Vinny Guadagnino are teaming up for a new reality TV sating series from MTV titled Double Shot at Love with DJ Pauly D & Vinny. The series will follow 20 contestants as they fight to win the hearts for the reality TV stars.

The news was announced by the network Friday. 

Vinny of course took to social media to announce the news writing on Instagram, “Excited to announce me and my boyfriend @djpaulyd are getting our own crazy reality dating competition show! This is gonna be good…”

“A crazy dating competition show,” he added on Twitter. “What could go wrong?”

The co-h-cost announced the news Wednesday sharing his departure message on Twitter. The decision to leave the successful MTV show is a result of Joseph trying to balance two careers, that of a TV host and filmmaker. 

Outside the world of Catfish, Joseph wrote and directed a series of short films, and even released his first feature-length movie, We Are Your Friends, in 2015.

“Working on this show for the last seven years has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I’ve learned a lot about myself, my country and human nature in general.”

“For a while now I have been straddling two careers as TV host and filmmaker and, while this level of busy-ness is a dream come true, my life can no longer sustain it. With Catfish still going strong after 7 seasons, 115 episodes, 31 specials and showing no sign of slowing down, I feel it is finally the time for me to make my exit,” he continued.

After seven years of co-hosting, Joseph and Nev Schulman have developed a sincere friendship. Schulman also took to Twitter and posted his own goodbye message, expressing support for Joseph’s decision. 

“Working with Max on Catfish has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. What started as a casual friendship quickly turned into a brotherhood. Thanks to Max, over the last six years I’ve learned as much about the internet and society as I have about myself. Max isn’t just a co-host, he’s a partner. His ability to listen, empathize and advise is astounding. Nobody cuts through the noise and dishes the hard truth better than he does. I’m going to miss him a lot.”

Joseph’s final episode will air on Wednesday, August 22 on MTV.

Also gracing the stage with her signature dance moves will be Jennifer Lopez who is the recipient of this year’s Michael Jackson Vanguard Award. It will mark the first time that the Dinero singer has performed at the VMAs since 2001.

A new reboot is in the works this time at MTV Studios, a new production unit launched by the network. 

Alongside the re-imagining of Aeon Flux and The Real World is a new iteration of Daria. 

“MTV has the biggest collection of hit youth franchises that spans more than three decades of content and over 200 titles, part of which have fueled our resurgence,” said MTV President Chris McCarthy in a statement. “With MTV Studios, we are for the first time ever opening up this vault beyond our own platforms to reimagine the franchises with new partners.”

The new version of the animated series will be penned by Inside Amy Schumer writer Grace Edwards.

The original series ran on MTV from 1997 to 2002 and originated from the Beavis and Butt-head series.

No premiere details have been confirmed.

MTV announced Monday that Jersey Shore is coming back and will premiere in 2018. The announcement was made during the second installment of the network’s Shore franchise, Floribama Shore. The original show premiered in 2009 and ran for 6 seasons.

After the short TV spot reveal of the revival titled Jersey Family Vacation, MTV sent out a press release confirming that Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio,” Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino will be back, which means that all but one member of the original is returning to the show. Absent is Sammi Giancola, better known as “Sweetheart,” who was a big part of the original series due to her on-again, off-again romance with Ronnie.

Landis, who directed the 1983 original for a reported 500,000 dollars, released a statement on Monday saying that he looking to take “full advantage of the remarkable advances in technology to add new dimensions to both the visual and the audio bringing it to a whole new level.” He added that unlike the original, which was shot traditionally, this time around he “was able to use the 3D creatively,” warning fans to expect “a rather shocking surprise in there.”

The Venice Film Festival begins August 30, and alongside the premiere of the new Thriller music video, there will be a screening of the Making of Michael Jackson’s Thriller documentary that first aired the same year the original music video was released.
