]]>The streaming giant has officially renewed its critically acclaimed series for a third season. News that the series will return in 2021 comes after the debut of its second season in January.
Netflix revealed the news in a video announcement featuring Alistair Petrie aka Michael Groff, headmaster and Adam’s father.
“Eric and Adam, I wonder what is in store for these two cherubs? Well, I suppose you’ll have to find out in season 3, won’t you,” Petrie teases in the clip.
Sex Education hails from creator and writer Laurie Nunn. It is directed by Ben Taylor, Alice Seabright, and Sophie Goodhart.

]]>That right — the now star of the critically acclaimed British comedy-drama initially didn’t take a liking to the series’ set up.
“I read a teeny bit of the first episode and threw it in the bin,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “Initially I felt that it was too on the nose.”
Lucky for Anderson, her partner Peter Morgan, the creator and writer of The Crown, changed her mind.
“Pete essentially took it out the bin and read it and loved it, and said, ‘You’re mad. This will be really good for you to do.’ I read it and I thought it was hilarious.” And no that all that is history apparently Pete “keep[s] reminding [her] that the success of it is all down to him.”
Season 2 of Sex Education is now streaming on Netflix.

]]>Netflix has announced the premiere date of the second season of its hit British comedy — all eight episodes of the season will launch on the streaming service January 17, 2020.
The debut date was revealed in a tweet by Netflix UK & Ireland on Monday, writing, “Get in losers, the new term is starting.”
Season two will see Asa Butterfield’s Otis Milburn attempting to master his newly discovered sexual urges, while at the same time, Moordale Secondary is in the throes of a Chlamydia outbreak.
Sex Education also stars Gillian Anderson, Emma Mackey, Aimee Lou Woods, Patricia Allison, Connor Swindells, and Ncuti Gatwa. New characters for season 2 include talented academic student Viv (Chinenye Ezeudu), new student Rahim (Sami Outalbali), and Isaac (George Robinson), who moves into Maeve’s caravan park.
The first season is currently available to stream on Netflix.

Season two will see Otis trying to master newly discovered sexual urges in order to make progress with his girlfriend, Ola, while he also deals with his recently strained relationship with Maeve. The season will also have a Chlamydia outbreak storyline, highlighting the need for better sex education at the school.

The series, starring Asa Butterfield and Gillian Anderson, will return for an eight-episode second season. The first, critically acclaimed season was watched by an estimated 40 million households within four weeks of its debut, according to E! Online.
“The reception to season one has been so exciting. Seeing how people across the world have connected to characters that began as ideas in my head is incredible,” creator Laurie Dunn said in a statement. “I’m hugely grateful to every person that has taken the time to watch the series, and I can’t wait to continue this amazing journey.”
“Laurie Nunn has captured the awkward teenage experience with a lot of heart and humor in Sex Education,” Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix, said in a statement. “Along with the Eleven team and executive producer and director Ben Taylor, she’s created a universally relatable series that has resonated with our members around the world.”
