Stephen Amell leads Suits: LA as Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who must face the ghosts of his pasts after his new firm in Los Angeles faces a crisis point.

“Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved,” reads NBC’s official logline.

In addition to Amell in the lead role, Suits: LA will also star Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, Bryan Greenberg, Victoria Justice, Troy Winbush, and Alice Lee. Gabriel Macht will return as Harvey Spencer, while the list of notable guest stars includes Maggie Grace, Matt Letscher, Sofia Pernas, and Carson A. Egan.

Casting for supporting players is underway, but Ted Black will be “surrounded by a group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives”, according to the show’s official logline.

NBC started plotting a potential spin-off set in the Suits universe after the original series experienced a true boom on streaming services last year. Aaron Korsh, creator and writer of the original series, is coming back as the executive producer of this spin-off, while Victoria Mahoney has been tapped to direct and executive produce the pilot.

“Though I know it isn’t true, it seems like only yesterday USA Network took a chance on an unestablished writer’s very first hourlong script. These days that’s a common thing, but 47 years ago when I first wrote the untitled Korsh project, nobody did it,” said showrunner and creator Aaron Korsh in a statement. “Nobody except the people at USA and UCP.”

Korsh went on to thank everyone who took part in the creation of the show, including its producers, writers, and cast.

“Suits has played an instrumental role in our network’s DNA for nearly a decade,” USA Network president Chris McCumber added. “I and everyone at USA Network sincerely thank Aaron Korsh, our partners at UCP and the entire Suits family for their tremendous creativity, devotion and support over a truly amazing run.”

While Suits is wrapping up this year, that doesn’t mean we will have to say goodbye to all of its characters and stories. A spinoff centering on Suits’ Jessica Pearson, portrayed by Gina Torres, have been recently greenlit on USA Network and will premiere in 2019. According to the brief synopsis, the show will follow “powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson, as she enters the dirty world of Chicago politics.”

Torres, who played lawyer Jessica Pearson on Suits, will be the female lead in a new series that received a series pickup at USA network.

Suits creator Aaron Korsh, who will executive produce and write the spin-off, said in a statement, “It was an extraordinary pleasure working with Gina on Suits for six years. Beyond her undeniable talent, she is an incredible partner and collaborator, and I always hoped we would work together again.”

The expanding franchise comes after Torres made an exit from Suits as Pearson left her position as managing partner at Pearson-Specter-Litt and moved to Chicago. While she has made several guest appearances since, the spin-off is an “opportunity to continue Jessica Pearson’s journey in this new series that will encapsulate all that our fans love about her and Suits – but with its own distinct story that will be unique to the franchise.”

Also departing from Suits at the end of season 7 are Patrick J. Adams, who plays Mike Ross, and Meghan Markle, who played Rachel Zane.
