The first teaser doesn’t tell us too much about the plot, but it gives us a glimpse of the Fantastic Four’s origin story and the film’s retro-futuristic feel. Sue Storm delivers an emotional speech about their unity in the face of hardships, saying “Whatever life throws at us, we face it together – as a family.”
Galactus is teased as the main villain in the trailer, but he won’t be the only big bad that the Fantastic Four will have to face. His enigmatic herald, the Silver Surfer, is also expected to make an appearance in the film.
The star-studded cast of this project is led by Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. They’ll be joined by Ralph Ineson, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles in supporting roles.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released on July 25, as the first film of Phase Six of the MCU.
The Silver Surfer previously appeared in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, when he was portrayed by Doug Jones and voiced by Laurence Fishburne. Marvel’s new film will put a fun new twist on this villain, and see Garner portray Shalla-Bal, who was the empress of Zenn-La and the lover of Norrin Radd/Silver Surfer before they were separated for eternity.
Garner isn’t the first A-list star to join this project. Marvel’s new take on The Fantastic Four will be led by Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm/The Thing.
Garner rose to prominence while starring in the Netflix crime drama Ozark, earning three Primetime Emmy Awards for her supporting role. She’ll next appear in the supernatural horror film Wolf Man alongside Christopher Abbott.
]]>Pascal’s casting doesn’t come as a huge shocker for Marvel fans since he’s been rumored to play Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic for quite some time. It’s still a true miracle he found time in his busy schedule to lead this project, since he’s also a star of the hit TV shows The Mandalorian and Last of Us.
Pascal will be in pretty good company on the set since he’ll be joined by Vanessa Kirby (The Crown, Mission: Impossible franchise) as Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm aka the Thing.
Matt Shakman (WandaVision) is on board to direct this film, which hails from writers Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. The Fantastic Four will be released in theatres on July 25, 2025, as a part of the Phase Six of the MCU. Thos slot was previously reserved for Thunderbolts, which moved to May 2, 2025.
