]]>Christian Navarro, who stars as Tony Padilla on Netflix’s teen drama, took to social media and shared just how much he would like to play Arielle’s prince.
Following the news that Harry Styles decided not to play the lovable Disney prince, Navarro took to Twitter writing, “So I heard Harry Styles passed on Prince Eric, well…I can sing. Black Ariel/Latino Prince…no ones called but Season 3 [of 13 Reasons Why]drops next week and I think it’s one hell of an audition.”
And he didn’t stop there. He also took to Instagram writing, “Just a brief reminder that there’s always another mountain, another goal to strive after, and with your help, I’ll keep pushing the limits. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we had a truly multicultural Little Mermaid?! Fingers crossed beautiful people.”
And boy did his plead work! On Tuesday, Navarro updated fans that Disney saw his tweet and “gave my team a call.”
“They wanted to see what I could do.” Navarro added, “Tapes sent. Fingers crossed. Let’s make some history.”
Could Navarro be our Prince Eric? We’ll just have to wait and see!

]]>According to multiple sources, the Dunkirk star is no longer in talks to play Prince Eric in Disney’s live-action Little Mermaid.
Variety reports that “the initial reports about his casting were premature” and that Styles passed on the role amicably.
The feature helmed by Rob Marshall stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, the mermaid princess who dreams of being a human, and Melissa McCarthy as villainous Ursula. It is written by David Magee will feature the original songs from the 1989 animated classic, as well as new songs from original composer Alan Menken with lyrics by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Crews captioned the image with “Ariel’s Dad!!!!” as well as two hashtags to help promote his casting in the film — #ArielsGotTerry and #AmericasGotTerry.
Crews’ post follows the announcement that Halle Bailey was recently cast as Ariel.

The contemporary re-imagining of the animated classic from Mary Poppins Returns’ helmer Rob Marshall will feature the songs from the original as well as new songs from original composer Alan Menken. Penning the script is David Magee.
Marshall said of the live-action remake, it’s about ”a woman finding her voice. A girl finding her voice, actually. And that immediately just felt like an interesting, timely piece that resonated with us.”
Disney’s latest live-action remake Aladdin grossed $820 million worldwide. The studio’s next live-action remake to hit theaters is the highly anticipated The Lion King, which will hit theaters July 19.
