On Thursday, HBO shared a short release confirming that the seventh season of the show will air in 2019. There’s still no official premiere date and the details revealed are quite scarce, including nothing more than writers, producers and directors working on the grand finale.

The news comes as little surprise, as it was already hinted that the production might not be over on time for the show to air this year. The shooting only began in October and is supposed to run until August 2018.

As HBO programming president Casey Bloys told The Hollywood Reporter, “production people are trying to figure out a timeline for the shoot and how much time the special effects take. The shooting is complicated enough — on different continents, with all the technical aspects — and the special effects are a whole other production period that we’re trying to figure out. That is a big factor in all of this.”

The directors for season 8 are creators of GoT David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and co-writers David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik.

The interesting fact is that none of the Netflix shows has made it to the top 10 most pirated. It’s probably thanks to its worldwide availability and the possibility of shared accounts.

In an interview with Variety, the 21-year-old actress was asked about her busy 2018 – with GoT in progress and the November release of X-Men: Dark Phoenix on the horizon.

“I’m really excited,” she said. “Game of Thrones comes out in 2019. Dark Phoenix is in November. Then I have a couple indie movies coming out. I’m a producer on my next movie (Girl Who Fell From the Sky). So I’m really excited about the future.”

The announcement comes just months after Casey Bloys, HBO Head of Programming, hinted that final episodes could arrive as late as 2019.

HBO hasn’t officially commented on this yet.

CBS estimates the total number of viewers to reach 15 million after a week passes thanks to all delayed viewing.

The TV network hopes Discovery will raise interest for their “All Access.” CBS Interactive president Marc DeBevoise recently spoke about it: “Try it; All Access is free to try and if you don’t think it’s worth the value, we get it. It’s not going to be for everybody. We know some of our customers are going to be cord cutters, some are going to be people who want CBS another way and some just want the premium content we’re offering. Also, it’s not like we’re price gouging here. I think it’s a reasonable price for the value we’re delivering. It’s not just what you get on CBS, it is 10,000 episodes of content plus live TV. We have to show people the value of the service, and I think we will.”

“You may have just read the news that I’m doing a version of Starsky & Hutch over at Amazon, producing alongside Neal Moritz with Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn writing. Well….”

He opened up about what was it like for him to watch it, saying that he was “instantly intrigued” with the possibly of joining such a project, adding that he simply doesn’t get involved in projects that he doesn’t love or isn’t committed to. In regards to the questions what will this Starsky & Hutch be in relation to the original he wrote, “this would NOT be a reboot or a remake, but a continuation of the original series that would deconstruct the buddy cop show in a fun way.”  Gunn finished his announcement by telling current and future fans, “yes, I AM working on Starsky & Hutch for Amazon: I couldn’t be more excited, and I can’t wait for you guys to see what we come up with. Striped Tomato forever! Stay tuned!”

The original Starsky & Hutch premiered in 1975 on ABC and ran for 92 episodes until 1979. It was produced by Aaron Spelling. The show told the story of two L.A police officers played by David Soul and Paul Michael. The two from Southern California, who were opposites when it came to personal experience and personality, are most memorable when chasing bad guys in their iconic red and white-striped Ford Gran Torino.

Filming of the epic meeting took place in Spain last November. EW was there asking actress Lena Heady what must her character feel. The 8th and final season of Game of Thrones will begin filming in October. As the production of one episode can take as long as 9-11 months to complete, season 8 could premiere as early as summer 2018. However, there have been rumors the final season won’t air until 2019.
