Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building wrapped up with the murder of Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch), the long-time stunt double of Charles-Haden Savage’s (Steve Martin). Charles will join forces with Mabel (Selena Gomez) and Oliver (Martin Short) to solve her murder, but Season 4 will see them briefly leave The Arconia behind and head to Los Angeles.

Galifianakis joined the cast in the mystery recurring role, but his character will be integral to the Season 4 investigation. He’ll be in pretty good company on the set of this series since the cast also includes Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek), Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives), Molly Shannon (The White Lotus), and Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), plus Meryl Streep returning to her role from Season 3.

Galifianakis is best known as the star of The Hangover franchise, while the list of his TV credits includes Bored to Death and Baskets, plus the Emmy-winning short-form talk show Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis. He’ll next be seen in the black comedy Winner alongside Emilia Jones, Kathryn Newton, and Connie Britton.

Instead of simply conducting awkward interviews, Galifianakis is forced to hit the road with his oddball crew and convince high-profile celebrities to appear on his show, as a way of making amends for his past mistakes and restoring his reputation.

Will Ferrell, founder of comedy website Funny or Die where Between Two Ferns originated, makes an appearance in the movie, but he’s hardly the only one. The list of cameos is so long it would take all day long to list them, but you can expect Galifianakis sitting down with the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Jon Hamm, Brie Larson, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

We won’t have to wait for long for this movie to come our way – it will start streaming on Netflix on September 20th.

The network confirmed Wednesday that the comedy series will wrap up on August 22, with the season finale now serving as the series finale.

The series followed Zach Galifianakis’ Chip Baskets on his journey to become a professional clown. His costar Louie Anderson played Chip’s doting mother, Christine. It also stars Martha Kelly and Alex Morris.

“Over four seasons, Baskets has taken its place among the great FX comedies as an endearing and hilarious look at the dreams and ambition of Chip Baskets and his extended, loving family,” said Eric Schrier, president of FX Entertainment. “This show has been a joy for everyone at FX and we are grateful to Jonathan Krisel, Zach Galifianakis, Louie Anderson, Martha Kelly and the rest of the cast and crew for giving us the gem that is Baskets.”

Between Two Ferns saw comedian Zach Galifianakis posing as the host of a low budget talk show who conducts awkward and inappropriate with his celebrity guests such as Justin Bieber, Jon Hamm, Brad Pitt, and even former U.S. President Barack Obama. The program was co-created by writer/actor Scott Aukerman who also directed some of the episodes. Aukerman should have a prominent role in the upcoming film as well.

After another lengthy pause, an episode featuring Jerry Seinfeld, Wayne Knight, and Cardi B premiered in June 2018. In total, 21 episodes and one special being aired so far.
