The first season of House of the Dragon did a great job setting the stage for Dance of the Dragons, and the next chapter will get straight to the point. HBO dropped the first teaser trailer for the show’s second season, which chronicles the start of the war of succession known as the Dance of the Dragons.
House of the Dragon is set 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and it chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen. The first season took place during the reign of King Viserys, whose death set the stage for the Dance of the Dragons.
This war of succession will be fought between two opposing clans of the Targaryen family, led by King Viserys’ first-born daughter and heir apparent, Rhaenyra Targaryen, and his second wife Queen Alicent Hightower and mother of male heir Aegon II, who ascended to the Iron Throne.
Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, and Rhys Ifans will reprise their roles from the first season, and several new cast members are set to join them. HBO announced the casting of Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.
House of the Dragon will return for Season 2 in mid-2024, and its release date is yet to be confirmed by HBO.
