True Detective is one of the most anticipated shows coming back to HBO in 2023 and we finally got the first look at new characters. Jodie Foster and Kali Reis take the lead in the fourth season of the critically acclaimed anthology series.
The duo will play detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro, who are trying to solve the case of the disappearance of six men from Tsalal Arctic Research Station in Ennis, Alaska. In the middle of Alaska’s wastelands, they must confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunting truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.
True Detective: North Country will also star John Hawkes, Christopher Eccleston, Fiona Shaw, Finn Bennett, and Anna Lambe. The filming kicked off in Iceland last month and the series still doesn’t have an official release date.
The first footage from the series gave us a sneak peek of Foster and Reis in character, and it’s been featured in HBO’s sizzle reel of their upcoming programming for 2023. The video included clips from several new shows, such as The Last of Us, The Idol, and White House Plumbers, in addition to teasing the return of The Gilded Age, Succession, and Barry.
