Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber Sold For $450,000 to Ripley

The lightsaber used as by Mark Hamill in Star Wars: A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back as a prop has been sold for $450,000 to the Ripley company in Orlando, as Orlando Sentinel reports.

The previous owner was Gary Kurtz. It may end up on display at one of the Believe It or Not locations around the U.S., but Ripley still hasn’t confirmed which one.

If nearly half a million dollars for a lightsaber sounds like a lot, you should know that that wasn’t nearly the most expensive Star Wars prop sold at the auction. In fact, an original R2-D2 unit went for $2.76 million. It’s not clear who bought the droid at the moment.
