Muppets fans behold! There’s a new Kermit the frog and he has made his debut in a new Muppets video!
At first it might seem that nothing’s changed with everyone’s favorite frog, however, if you listen closely, you’ll hear that something has changed: his voice.
Matt Vogel, stepped in for longtime puppeteer Steve Whitmire as the new voice of Kermit. A representative for Disney confirmed to EW that the “Muppets Thought of the Week” video that was uploaded to YouTube and posted on social media, mark Vogel’s debut.
Whitmire replacement was announced last July, after he voiced Kermit for 27 years. The Muppets studio said in the release that there were “concerns about Steve’s repeated unacceptable business conduct over a period of many years and he consistently failed to address the feedback.”
Even though Vogel couldn’t understudy for Kermit, and the “Thought of the Week” video was released only this week, it’s safe to assume that Vogel, who previously voiced Constantine, Kermit’s evil doppelgänger, in the 2014 movie Muppets Most Wanted, he’ll do a pretty good job voicing Kermit himself.
