Baz Luhrmann’s next film will focus on Elvis Presley’s early years, and its cast is already shaping up to be amazing. Tom Hanks has been cast as Colonel Tom Parker, the singer’s infamous manager who controlled every aspect of his life.

The lead actor is yet to be cast, but something tells us that the movie will be in safe hands. Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Austin Butler, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Harry Styles screen-tested for the role, and they all have a great track record behind them. All of the actors in the running have a singing background, but Luhrmann is yet to pick his favorite.

This won’t be his first time tackling this genre since he previously won an Oscar for the hit musical Moulin Rouge!

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel from Donna Tartt, the upcoming movie stars Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Ansel Elgort and Nicole Kidman. Sarah Paulson and Ashley Cummings have also joined the all-star cast.

“In Amsterdam, I dreamt I saw my mother again,” Elgot says in the teaser. “Same beautiful, pale blue eyes. When I lost her, I lost sight of any landmark that might’ve led me someplace happier.”

The movie follows his life following this turn of events and the loss of his mother. “

The Goldfinch will be released September 13 in cinemas worldwide.

Daniel Riley’s GQ Magazine article of the same name servers as the foundation for this intriguing project. It tells the story of a bright Ukranian immigrant, Artur Samarin, who befriends a childless couple in a small Pennsylvania town and pretended he’s much younger so they would adopt him.

Despite becoming a top student with several scholarships at elite colleges on the horizon, Samarin didn’t get to live his dream of working for NASA because the couple eventually blew his cover. He later claimed they were aware of his age and adopted him because they received government benefits for doing so.

This whole story sounds like something you only see in the movies, so it’s only fitting we’re getting one inspired by it.

Mike Makowsky, who recently wrote the script for Bad Education starring Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney, will be in charge of adapting The Great High School Imposter to the big screen.

The 24-year-old actor has just landed his next major role starring as Tony in Spielberg’s remake of the classic Broadway musical West Side Story. The casting was confirmed by the producers on Monday.

Elgort has already proven his musicality in the feature Baby Driver and little do people know, he’s also a dancer. He actually studied at the School of American Ballet in New York City for five years.

This won’t be the first time the hit musical was adapted for the big screen. The original big-screen version was a major success winning ten Academy Awards including Best Picture. Elgort will be filling the shoes of Richard Beymer who starred as Tony in 1961 original that also featured a stellar cast including Natalie Wood, George Chakiris, Rita Moreno, and Russ Tamblyn.

Originally inspired by Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story follows the rivalry between two street gangs, the white Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. The rivalry deepens when Tony, a former jet, falls for Maria, sister of the Sharks’ leader. 

Spielberg, Kevin McCollum, and Kristie Macosko Krieger will produce the movie. According to Entertainment Weekly, the producers have seen thousands of dancers, singers, and actors over the past several months with filming scheduled to begin in the summer of 2019.
