]]>The blue monster in Sheeran’s video looks quite adorable and it draws inspiration from the movie Harvey, but the symbolism behind it isn’t so light-hearted. The monster in the Mia Barnes-directed video was supposed to represent grief and sadness that grows bigger and bigger and takes up whole rooms.
“There’s also a book I read to my daughters where sadness is encapsulated by an imaginary creature. Often sadness is something that follows you around, engulfing the rooms you’re in, and you can feel and see it, but no one else around you can,” Sheeran told The Rolling Stone.
“Eyes Closed” was initially conceived as a breakup song, but Sheeran completely changed the concept in the wake of several personal tragedies in recent years. He described it as a song “about losing someone”, referring to the death of his close friend Jamal Edwards.
“Eyes Closed” will serve as the lead single on Sheeran’s deeply personal new album Subtract, set to be released on May 5.

]]>Sheeran teased his fifth studio album Subtract (styled as “-”) by sharing a lengthy statement on social media, accompanied by a photograph by Annie Liebowitz. He described a string of events that changed his life and ultimately the way he approached music and art.
“Within the space of a month, my pregnant wife got told she had a tumor, with no route to treatment until after the birth. My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly, and I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a songwriter. I was spiraling through fear, depression, and anxiety,” wrote Sheeran on social media.
The British hitmaker went on to explain he felt like he couldn’t credibly “put a body of work into the world that didn’t accurately represent where [he was].” His vision for his next album significantly changed following this string of events, and he wanted to craft a body of work that’s honest and true to where he is in his adult life.
Subtract will be released on May 5, and its standard edition will feature a total of 14 tracks.

The list of nominees also includes “Cold Heart” by Elton John and Dua Lipa, “Clash” by Dave and Stormzy, and “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals.
There’s one thing that makes the upcoming Brit Awards ceremony different from the ones that came before it—the introduction of gender-neutral categories. The awards for British male solo artist and British female solo artist have been eliminated and replaced by the artist of the year.
2022 Brit Awards are set to take place on February 8th, 2022 at London’s O2 Arena with Mo Gilligan hosting the show.

The British singer concluded his tour with a final performance at Ipswich’s Chantry Park on August 26th, after a total of 260 shows and over two years on the road, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that he wants to take a long break from performing.
“As you may or may not know, I’ve been on the Divide tour for over two years now and this is the last day of the whole thing. There is something very bittersweet about it. I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich. This is my last gig for probably 18 months,” said Sheeran during his final concert.
The Shape of You singer described this series of shows as “the biggest tour ever”, and he definitely wasn’t exaggerating. The Divide World Tour grossed around $775.6 million with 8.9 million tickets sold around the world, making it the highest-grossing concert tour of all time.

]]>Ed Sheehan has announced he has enlisted some big names for his upcoming 15-track set titled No. 6 Collaborations Project.
His list of duet partners includes Justin Bieber Travis Scott, Khalid, Eminem, Cardi B, Chance the Rapper and Meek Mill, all represented as “features.”
“Before I was signed in 2011, I made an EP called ‘No.5 Collaborations Project’,” Sheeran wrote on Instagram. “Since then, I’ve always wanted to do another, so I started ‘No.6’ on my laptop when I was on tour last year. I’m a huge fan of all the artists I’ve collaborated with and it’s been a lot of fun to make.”
The singer-songwriter added in a statement, “I’m a huge fan of all of the artists I worked with on the album. Whether I’ve been following them since the beginning of their careers or had their albums on repeat, they’re artists that inspire me and all bring something special to each track. Can’t wait for you to hear it!”
No. 6 Collaborations Project follows 2011’s No. 5 Collaborations Project, an EP that featured a series of partnerships with some of the world’s biggest musical talents.

Since then, I’ve always wanted to do another, so I started No.6 on my laptop when I was on tour last year. I’m a huge fan of all the artists I’ve collaborated with and it’s been a lot of fun to make,” the four-time Grammy-winning artist wrote on Instagram.
We won’t have to wait for long to see what Ed Sheeran has in store for us. His next album is scheduled to be released on July 12th, and we can’t wait to see the full list of artist who teamed up with him.

]]>The singer-songwriter has been making music, touring and even starring in movies but instead of taking a break, the star has announced a huge set of tour dates for 2019. Not only does this mean his fans from across Europe and Africa will get a new chance to see him as his team has issued a strict ticket policy to reduce the growing problem of ticket touts.
“Once again, Ed and his team have a strict stance against anyone using unethical secondary ticketing sites,” his promoters explained.
“The UK shows on this tour will use ‘paperless’ ticketing technology, which means that the credit or debit card of the purchaser of the tickets will become their ticket. This stops secondary sites and ticket touts being able to resell tickets at inflated prices and ripping off fans.”
“Fans who become unable to go to the shows will be able to sell their tickets from November 1st to other fans at the price they paid + a booking fee at their point of purchase.”

]]>The singer-songwriter turned actor will play himself in Boyle’s upcoming feature. The film is about a songwriter who wakes up one morning to learn that he is the only person left in the whole world who remembers The Beatles.
The Beatles’ inspired story was written by Richard Curtis. Himesh Patel will play the lead and Sheeran will find Patel’s character and bring him along on tour. Patel will then become a superstar by playing the Beatles’ music. It sounds far out but equally, brilliant.
“It’s very clever,” said Sheeran. “They shot it around loads of my gigs. So it was a very intense two months. Because I would have four days of gigging and then three days of shooting a film. I was playing myself, so I don’t think I was that bad. There wasn’t much to [mess] up.”
The currently untitled movie will be Ed Sheeran’s first major acting role. Production and release dates are yet to be confirmed.

Not only does this mean his fans from across Europe and Africa will get a new chance to see him as his team has issued a strict ticket policy to reduce the growing problem of ticket touts.
“Once again, Ed and his team have a strict stance against anyone using unethical secondary ticketing sites,” his promoters explained.
“The UK shows on this tour will use ‘paperless’ ticketing technology, which means that the credit or debit card of the purchaser of the tickets will become their ticket. This stops secondary sites and ticket touts being able to resell tickets at inflated prices and ripping off fans.”
“Fans who become unable to go to the shows will be able to sell their tickets from November 1st to other fans at the price they paid + a booking fee at their point of purchase.”

]]>The singer-songwriter turned actor will play himself in Boyle’s upcoming feature. The film is about a songwriter who wakes up one morning to learn that he is the only person left in the whole world who remembers The Beatles.
The Beatles’ inspired story was written by Richard Curtis. Himesh Patel will play the lead and Sheeran will find Patel’s character and bring him along on tour. Patel will then become a superstar by playing the Beatles’ music. It sounds far out but equally, brilliant.
“It’s very clever,” said Sheeran. “They shot it around loads of my gigs. So it was a very intense two months. Because I would have four days of gigging and then three days of shooting a film. I was playing myself, so I don’t think I was that bad. There wasn’t much to [mess] up.”
The currently untitled movie will be Ed Sheeran’s first major acting role. Production and release dates are yet to be confirmed.
