]]>Joker: Folie à Deux will see Joker and Harley Quinn developing an unusual connection after crossing each other’s paths at Arkham Asylum. The first trailer sees them catching each other’s side for the first time, falling in love, and performing a series of elaborate dance numbers to the beat of “What the World Needs Now (Is Love Sweet Love)”.
Joker: Folie à Deux has often been classified as a musical, but its director Todd Phillips said this description is reductive, saying it’s “a movie where music is an essential element” instead.
“The first ways I described Arthur were as weird and aloof and distant, but he has music in him, he has a grace to him. That informed him a lot in the first film. It didn’t seem like that big of a step what we did here,” he said at CinemaCon in Las Vegas
Joker: Folie à Deux will be released on October 4, and its supporting cast includes Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Steve Coogan, Ken Leung, and Harry Lawtey.

]]>It doesn’t come as a surprise that Joker: Folie à Deux will be a musical, and the genre shift has been a matter of public knowledge for almost a year. According to Variety’s recent report, most of the songs featured in this film will be familiar to the viewers because they’ll be reinterpretations of “very well-known” songs.
The film’s genre has been described as a jukebox musical, compared to Mamma Mia! and Moulin Rouge. “That’s Entertainment” from the ’50s musical The Band Wagon has been mentioned as one of the songs featured on the soundtrack, which could also feature an original song or two.
Joaquin Phoenix will return as Arthur Fleck/Joker in Joker: Folie à Deux, alongside Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. Zazie Beetz, Leigh Gill, and Sharon Washington will reprise their roles from the first film, and they’ll be joined by Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Steve Coogan, Ken Leung, and Harry Lawtey in mystery roles.
Joker: Folie à Deux will be released by Warner Bros. on October 4.

Not much is known about their next collaboration, but it’s been rumored it will be a Western about a small-town sheriff with high expectations. It’s safe to expect it will explore the dark side of the human psyche, like all of Aster’s previous films.
In addition to Phoenix, this film will also star the Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us), the recent Oscar winner Emma Stone (Poor Things), and Oscar nominee Austin Butler (Dune: Part Two).
They’ll also be joined by Luke Grimes (Yellowstone), Deirdre O’Connell (Outer Range), Micheal Ward (Top Boy), and Clifton Collins Jr. (Jockey) in supporting roles.
Eddington will mark Aster’s fourth collaboration with A24, following the success of his horror films Hereditary and Midsommar and last year’s tragicomedy Beau Is Afraid. In addition to writing and directing this film, he’ll also produce it alongside Lars Knudsen under their Square Peg banner.

]]>The three-time Oscar-nominated actor is back as Arthur Fleck in a brand new trailer.
The forthcoming feature that delves into the story of the DC Comics villain is set in early ’80s Gotham City and is directed by Todd Phillips, and by the looks of this latest trailer, is going to be a horror movie.
“It really came from this idea: what if you just did a comic-book movie differently?” Phillips said to Los Angeles Times. “We all grew up on these character studies and they’re few and far between nowadays. So it was like, ‘Let’s do a deep dive on one of these guys in a real way.’ No one is going to fly in it. No buildings are going to collapse. It’s just going to be on the ground, so to speak.”
Joker examines the evil that men who consider themselves outsiders can beget.
Joker hits theaters October 4, 2019.

“We didn’t follow anything from the comic books, which people are gonna be mad about,” Phillips told Empire. “We just wrote our own version of where a guy like Joker might come from. That’s what was interesting to me. We’re not even doing Joker, but the story of becoming Joker. It’s about this man.”
The decision to cast Phoenix to portray Arthur Fleck – a vulnerable, damaged man who will eventually become Gotham’s psychopathic criminal, was an easy one for Phillips.
“I think he’s the greatest actor,” said Phillips. “We had a photo of him above our computer while we were writing. We constantly thought, ‘God, imagine if Joaquin actually does this.’”
