Amazon’s forthcoming drama, Hunters, is set to premiere on February 21. 

Hunters is executive-produced by Oscar winner Jordan Peele and stars The Irishman actor Al Pacino as Meyer Offerman, the co-founder of a diverse band of Nazi hunters living in 1977 New York City. Meyer recruits Jonah Heidelbaum (Logan Lerman) to The Hunters, who discover that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living among them and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the United States.

Per the drama’s logline: “The eclectic team of Hunters will set out on a bloody quest to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans.”

Jerrika Hinton, Josh Radnor, Carol Kane, Dylan Baker, Tiffany Boone, and Lena Olin also star.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker is joining the ranks of Steve McQueen, Ava DuVernay, Ang Lee and many acclaimed directors who were presented with this award in the past. He was previously nominated for a BAFTA Award as the screenwriter of Get Out and the producer of BlacKkKlansman, but never ended up winning.

Chantal Rickards, BAFTA Los Angeles CEO, praised Peele for earning both the box office and critical acclaim through work that pushes boundaries and shines a light on stories of important social relevance.

“His imaginative storylines, inclusive casting, and bold style evoke John Schlesinger’s spirit of independence, integrity, and commitment to excellence. We are honored to celebrate Jordan’s talents at this year’s ceremony,” said Rickards in a press release.

This year’s BAFTA LA Britannia Awards will take place on October 25 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The list of honorees in different categories also includes Jane Fonda, Jackie Chan, and Steve Coogan.

The Twilight Zone reboot premiered on CBS All Access on April 1 and attracted more viewers with its first episode than any of their previous original shows.

In addition to developing and executive producing this show, Jordan Peele also serves as a narrator, but he was very reluctant about taking on this rule.

There’s a lot to celebrate about the enormous box office success of Peele’s latest creation. It’s an original genre movie filmed on a budget of $20 million, with a predominantly African-American cast. It took it only a few days to earn back its budget, exceeding all expectations and shattering several records on the way.

In addition to having the best opening for a live-action original film since Avatar in 2011, Us also delivered the largest debut for an original horror film, and third-largest in general, right behind the It remake from 2017, and last year’s Halloween sequel.

Jim Orr, head of distribution at Universal Pictures, praised Peele’s unique approach to filmmaking that led Us to this incredible box office success.

“Simply put, Jordan Peele is a genius, and we’re thrilled he put his signature touch to the genre. Folks come out of the movie and they have to talk about. It’s really a topic of conversation, how people are interpreting the movie. That’s a great sign for legs,” concluded Orr.

According to multiple outlets, the How I Men Your Mother alum will star opposite Al Pacino in the Nazi-hunting series from David Weil. Also starring as leads are Logan Lerman and Jerrika Hinton. 

The 10-episode series is executive produced by Get Out‘s writer-director Jordan Peele, who has an overall TV deal at Amazon. Weil will also serve as co-showrunner with Nikki Toscano. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (American Horror Story) will direct the first episode.

Set in 1970s New York City, The Hunt follows a band of Nazi hunters who have discovered that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living among them and are conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the US. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Radnor will play Lonny Flash, a movie star who is secretly a member of the group led by Pacino’s character. Lena Olin, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, Tiffany Boone, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Greg Austin and Dylan Baker round out the cast.

SXSW proved to be an amazing place for putting horror films on the map last year. A Quiet Place went on to become a smash hit after generating a lot of buzz during its opening night at this festival.

We’re hoping South by Southwest does the same for Us, since it seems worthy of our time. It follows a family whose holiday at an idyllic beach house turns into chaos after they’re forced to face four mysterious strangers, who happen to be replicas of themselves. It stars Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o and her Black Panther co-star Winston Duke.

Us will premiere on March 8, but the rest of the line-up remains a mystery.

Peele created his own mythology and creepy monsters known as “The Tethered” specifically for this movie. He always wanted to have a black family at the center but also tried to tackle new topics he hasn’t explored in his directorial debut.

“It’s also important to note, unlike Get Out, Us is not about race. It is instead about something that I feel has become an undeniable truth. And that is the simple fact that we are our own worst enemies,” explained Peele.

In addition to Lupita Nyong’o, this creepy home invasion film also stars her Black Panther co-star Winston Duke. It will hit the theaters on 15 March, 2019 and we can’t wait to see the big twist Peele’s got in store this time around.

Steven Yeun has been tapped to star in the upcoming Twilight Zone remake for CBS All Access. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Yeun will lead an episode titled “The Traveler.”

The Walking Dead star joins the previously announced John Cho (Searching), Allison Tolman (Fargo), Jacob Tremblay (Room), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) and Sanaa Lathan (The Affair), who have been tapped to star in the new anthology series

Oscar-winning director Peele is also executive producing the series and serving as the narrator.

MGM Pictures has partnered with Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions to bring back Candyman, the hook-wielding killer who appears after his name is said five times by a person facing a mirror. The news was announced by MGM Motion Picture Group president Jonathan Glickman Tuesday.

The 1992 horror classic, Candyman, based on the short story The Forbidden, is being rebooted and the Get Out filmmaker has been set to co-write the script alongside Win Rosenfeld. The re-imagining of the horror pic will be directed by Nic DaCosta.

According to Deadline, the film will be a “spiritual sequel” to the original, returning to the neighborhood where the legend began: the now-gentrified section of Chicago where the Cabrini-Green housing projects once stood.

“We cannot wait for the world to see what the mind-blowing combination of Jordan, Win, and Nia bring to the legend of Candyman,” said Glickman in a statement. “They have created a story that will not only pay reverence to Clive Barker’s haunting and brilliant source material but is also thoroughly modern and will bring in a whole new generation of fans.”

“The original was a landmark film for black representation in the horror genre,” said Peele. “Alongside Night of the Living Dead, Candyman was a major inspiration for me as a filmmaker — and to have a bold new talent like Nia at the helm of this project is truly exciting. We are honored to bring the next chapter in the Candyman canon to life and eager to provide new audiences with an entry point to Clive Barker’s legend.”

The writing duo, formerly of “Key & Peele” will helm the series titled Weird City. The anthology was described by Peele as a series of “comedy driven twisted-ass science fiction stories.”

“Writer/creator Charlie Sanders and I collaborated on some ‘Key & Peele’ sketches that took on everything from the ‘Black Republicans’ to ‘Continental Breakfasts’ to ‘Family Matters’,” said Peele. “Now, with YouTube, we present a series of comedy-driven twisted science fiction stories that take place in a world close to ours but just a little bit off.”

The series is produced by Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, Sonar Entertainment, Mosaic, and Raskal Productions. Jose Molina will serve as showrunner and executive producer. 

Peele is currently working on another anthology series serving as executive producer a reboot of The Twilight Zone at CBS All Access.
