]]>Deadline reports that a reboot of Aaron Spelling’s teen drama is being shopped to networks.
Rumors of a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot were kicked into high gear when Tori Spelling let slip that a follow up series was in very early stages of development back in March. Spelling teased the project again this weekend posting on Instagram that she has partnered with Jennie Garth on a 90210-related project.
The original series aired between 1990-2000 on Fox and starred Spelling, Garth, Jason Priestly, Shannen Doherty, Luke Perry, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, Gabrielle Carteris and others as students at West Beverly Hills High School.
According to the outlet, fans should expect an “untraditional reboot,” as some of the original 90210 has joined the reboot but they will not reprise their original characters! According to reports, the reboot will feature Garth, Spelling, Priestly, Ziering, Green and Carteris.
The project from CBS TV Studios hails from Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini, who also worked on the CW’s 90210 reboot, which ended in 2013 after five seasons.

]]>Variety reports that Shrek and Puss in Boots are getting rebooted. Overseeing the productions is Despicable Me’s Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination Entertainment.
The hugely successful animated film franchise is making its way back to be enjoyed by a whole new generation of moviegoers. The films about the gory yet lovable ogre and his sidekick donkey spawned another successful spinoff about the sword-wielding feline, Puss In Boots.
Comcast, who purchased DreamWorks Animation, the studio behind Shrek in 2016, has tasked Meledandri to reintroduce the beloved characters to our screens. It looks like though Meledandri is more than willing to retain a lot of the original for the reboot, namely the voice performances of Mike Meyers’s Shrek, Eddie Murphy’s Donkey, Antonio Banderas’s Puss in Boots and Cameron Diaz’s Princess Fiona.
“When you look back on those vocal performances they’re awesome, and while you certainly could make a case for a complete reinvention, I find myself responding to my own nostalgic feelings of wanting to go back to those characterizations,” Meledandri tells Variety. “The challenge for us has been to find something that really does feel like it’s not simply yet another film in a series of sequels.”
“There’s a tremendous amount of fun to be had in that world, but it’s a high bar to find a story that’s truly world,” Meledandri added. “You want to find something in the narrative that really feels like a departure.”

]]>Rumors have circulated that Kelsey Grammer will be assuming the role of the Seattle psychiatrist once again as part of a reboot. The 63-year-old is said to be in talks with CBS to revive Frasier in a series which is likely to be set in Chicago, where the talk show host went to follow his lady love.
Speaking about the potential reboot to TheWrap, Kelsey confirmed the relocation, saying, “I don’t want to go back to Seattle.”
But what he does want back is his cast of David Hyde Pierce, Peri Gilpin, and Jane Leeves. “I let them know if there were to be such a thing, I would want them all to still be in there,” he said.
Fans of the series are hesitant for it to hit screens again as it will sadly be missing one key cast member — Jack Mahoney who played Frasier’s father, Marty, passed away earlier this year.
“TV sucks [these days],” said Kelsey. “There are not comparable comedies to what there were in the golden age. We’ve talked to a couple of writers who are working on an idea. If the writing for the revival becomes what it was previously, that would it make it interesting enough to think about it. We’re not at the stage yet.”
Let’s hope that we’ll be getting those tossed salads and scrambled eggs.
