The Saturday Night Live alum has been tapped to star in the half-hour comedy pilot opposite previously announced lead Vanessa Bayer. 

According to Variety, Bayer is set to play a character who overcame childhood leukemia to achieve her lifelong dream of landing a job as a successful home shopping channel host. Shannon will star as Jackie, the charismatic, popular host at the network.

Big Deal was first ordered to pilot last November. Should it get picked up to series, Shannon will be a full-fledged series regular.

Shannon’s other TV credits include Will & Grace, Divorce and The Other Two.

The premium cabler confirmed the cancelation via statement Tuesday. 

“After seven incredible seasons, Ray Donovan has concluded its run on Showtime,” the cabler said in a statement. “We are proud that the series ended amid such strong viewership and on such a powerful note. Our deepest thanks go to Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight, showrunner David Hollander and the entire cast and crew, past and present, for their dedicated work.”

News of the cancelation comes off the heals of the season seven finale, which aired January 19. The cliffhanger season seven finale will now serve as the series finale. 

During its seven seasons and 82 episodes, the series Ray Donovan received 10 Emmy nominations.

The 50 seconds clip gives fans a messy sneak peek at what happened to Claire Danes’ Carrie Mathison during those seven months of confinement in a Russian gulag. 

The footage sees Carrie admit that she lost months of her life, only to return to her life with only broken memories of what actually happened to her there. 

According to Showtime’s official description, in the eighth and final season of the show, “Kabul teams with warlords and mercenaries, zealots and spies — and Saul needs the relationships and expertise that only his protégé can provide. Against medical advice, Saul asks Carrie to walk with him into the lion’s den — one last time.”

Starring opposite Carrie is National Security Advisor Saul Berenson, played by Mandy Patinkin, as well as Beau Bridges, Maury Sterling, Linus Roache, Costa Ronin, Nimrat Kaur, and Numan Acar.

The How to Get Away With Murder is heading to the fictional White House having been cast to portray former First Lady Michelle Obama.

The series will delve into the personal and political lives of first ladies throughout history.

Per the official logline, “In the East Wing of the White House, many of history’s most impactful and world-changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America’s charismatic, complex and dynamic First Ladies.”

The first season will focus on Obama, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Betty Ford, however, casting for Roosevelt and Ford has yet to be announced.

The drama is currently in development with a three-script commitment from the network with novelist Aaron Cooley penning the scripts.

Claire Danes’ final curtain call as Carrie Mathison has been delayed. 

Showtime announced Friday that the final season of its acclaimed drama will premiere February 9, 2020. By the time the show airs, it would have been off the air for almost two years. 

“Homeland is an ambitious series, especially in its final season. Alex wants to go out proudly, and he’s going to. That has involved production in multiple countries and at times in places that have some issues,” Showtime entertainment president Gary Levine told reporters Friday at TCA. “It just takes time. There have been no missteps here; it’s been a relatively smooth process but a very ambitious production schedule that has taken more time than we thought it would. One of the things that we do at Showtime [is a strategy that] we’d rather have it good than fast.”

This isn’t the first time that the premium cabler announced that the series would not hit its planned premiere date. “We previously announced a June premiere but because of production demands of our international locations, we’re moving the final season premiere back to the fall,” Levine said at the time.

Production is currently underway in Morocco.

The Wonder Woman star will headline and executive produce Showtime’s limited series about Hedy Lamarr. 

Lamarr immigrated from Europe in the ‘30s and took Hollywood by storm. The film actress, who appeared in multiple movies opposite A-listers such as Judy Garland and Clark Gable, was also a trailblazing scientist.

“The life of Hedy Lamarr was a truly fascinating one. She stood at the forefront of many issues that challenge women and our society today,” said Showtime’s President of Entertainment Jana Winograde. “In Gal Gadot, we have found the transcendent actress to portray the deeply complex Lamarr. And with the award-winning talents of Sarah Treem and Warren Littlefield, this is going to be a special series.”

The project hails from The Affair co-creator/executive producer Sarah Treem.

The sequel from executive producer and writer Marja-Lewis Ryan for Showtime has added four name to its call sheet. 

The hit lesbian drama has cast Arienne Mandi, Leo Sheng, Jacqueline Toboni, and Rosanny Zayas in series regular roles. The join original series stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, and Leisha Hailey.

Per Showtime, “Dani (Mandi) is a powerful and calculating PR executive whose ambition is only tested by her conscience. Micah (Sheng) is an earnest, soft-spoken adjunct professor who is forced to confront his fear of vulnerability. Sarah “Finley” (Toboni) is a charming but unfocused assistant who struggles to reconcile her sexual orientation with her religious upbringing. Sophie (Zayas) is a TV producer who guards her heart and is quick to put other people’s needs before her own.”

The sequel is set in Los Angeles’ Eastside rather than West Hollywood.

Showtime has dropped the first look at its upcoming season of its Golden Globe-winning drama. 

Per the premium cabler, Season 5 will chronicle the aftermath of last season’s horrific events and find the characters coming to terms with the consequences of their choices — as they make the realization that if they really want to change their futures, they must first face the past. 

The clip reveals that despite it all, it might not actually be over for exes Noah (Dominic West) and Helen (Maura Tierney). Let’s just say that with Noah saying “forgiveness is hard,” but that people “yearn for someone who really knows” them and then adding “it’s not too late” there’s still a chance for the couple.

Ruth Wilson, who played Alison, left the show back in Season 4.

Showtime said in a statement, “heading into season 4 everyone agreed the character’s story had run its course. Ultimately, it felt like the most powerful creative decision would be to end Alison’s arc at the moment when she had finally achieved self-empowerment. The impact of her loss will be felt as the series concludes next season. We thank the many fans who embraced the character of Alison and especially thank Ruth for her indelible work over the past four seasons.”

The Affair premieres August 25.

The highly anticipated revival has been titled The L Word: Generation Q and is set to debut this fall. 

Original stars Jennifer Beals, Leisha Hailey, and Katherine Moenig will be joined by a “new generation of self-possessed LGBTQIA characters experiencing love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in Los Angeles,” according to the official logline. 

The sequel hails from creator Ilene Chaiken. Chaiken also executive-produces alongside show-runner Marja-Lewis Ryan.

“Marja has brought her unique and contemporary vision to The L Word and blended it beautifully into the fabric of Ilene’s groundbreaking series,” Showtime president Gary Levine previously said. “This revered show was both entertaining and impactful when it originally ran on Showtime, and we are confident that our new version will do that and more in 2019.”

Ryan told The Hollywood Reporter, “I want to find things that are uniquely LA but are super real,” Ryan said. “We don’t all work in the entertainment industry. There’s way more Latina representation because we’re in LA In terms of socioeconomic classes, the original did a pretty good job where like I still have friends that sleep on people’s couches, like Shane [Moennig] did.”
