Multiple outlets confirm that a limited series of Stephen King’s 1974 novel is headed for the small screen. 

The forthcoming limited TV series at FX is the latest adaptation of the iconic horror novel, which follows high school misfit Carrie White, who discovers she has telekinetic powers. The most recent adaptation was the 2013 feature film starring Chloe Grace Moretz as the titular character. The most famous adaptation of the story is Brian De Palma’s 1976 movie starring Sissy Spacek. 

King’s Carrie joins other of the author’s titles that are currently being adapted — The Half Dark at MGM and Epix’s reimagining of Jerusalem’s Lot.

The limited series of the classic novel is written by Josh Boone and Ben Cavell. The story is King’s apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail (played by Goldberg) and a handful of survivors, whose worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg aka the Dark Man (Skarsgård).

Per TVLine McNamara will play Julie Lawry, a small-town girl with a wild side who has a run-in with Lloyd (Wolff) in Las Vegas, while Bailey will play Teddy Weizak, a superflu survivor and member of the body crew, alongside Harold (Teague), in Boulder, Colo.

The first official trailer for Netflix’s adaptation of In the Tall Grass is here and let us tell you — the grass has never been so eerie. 

Based on the novella originally published in two parts in Esquire magazine in 2012, the film follows inseparable siblings Becky and Cal who get lost in a massive field of grass after they hear the cries of a young boy lost. While the two venture in to rescue him, they find themselves quickly disoriented and separated by a sinister force.

Vincenzo Natali directed the film from his own script. It stars Harrison Gilbertson, Laysla De Oliveira, Avery Whitted, Will Buie Jr., Rachel Wilson, and Patrick Wilson. 

In the Tall Grass drops October 4 on Netflix.

The clip introduces The Shining’s Danny Torrance, played by Ewan McGregor, all grown and deeply disturbed. 

First a quick recap — the film is an adaptation of King’s 2013 horror novel, which is also the sequel to The Shining. Danny, now an adult, is battling a drinking problem and the emergence of strange powers. He then meets a young girl named Abra Stone (Kyliegh Curran) with similar abilities who is being hunted by a mysterious group that grows stronger by killing others with magical powers. 

“When I was a kid, I bumped into these things. I don’t know about magic. I always called it the shining,” Danny says in the trailer. The trailer also flashes iconic scenes from the haunted Overlook Hotel including the old woman in the bathtub, the Grady twins in the hallway and the blood tidal wave.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the streaming service is developing a series based on King’s 1984 novel The Eyes of the Dragon. Hulu beat Apple in auction for the rights.

The pilot was penned by Lego Batman Movie scribe, Ghrahame-Smith. He will also serve as the first episode’s showrunner. Smith, together with his KatzSmith Productions partner David Katzenberg will executive produce.

“The goal for this series is to feel unlike any Stephen King adaptation before, with this rich underlying source material, and the only true fantasy book he wrote that has kings and swords and princesses,” Grahame-Smith said. “We will honor the spirit of the book and the legacy.”

The Eyes of the Dragon is an epic tale that follows two boys who are next in line to rule the realm of Delain after the death of their dragon-slaying father.

The project follows a line of forthcoming adaptations of King’s works, including Pet Sematary, It: Chapter Two, The Stand, Salem’s Lot, The Tommyknockers, and Lisey’s Story.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the 58-year-old actress has been tapped to headline the limited series based on Stephen King’s 2006 psychological-horror thriller of the same name.

Lisey’s Story was given an eight-episode straight-to-series order. King penned all episodes himself. Abrams and his Warner Bros. TV-based Bad Robot Productions will produce. Moore will also serve as executive producers on the drama.

The series follows Lisey (Moore) two years following the death of her husband. The series explores a series of events that cause her to begin facing amazing realities about her husband that she had repressed and forgotten.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project marks the third series for Abrams’ Bad Robot at Apple, following Little Voice and My Glory Was I Had Such Friends. 

Moore’s TV credits include the HBO movie Game Change and As the World Turns. This will be the first time the actress stars in the leading TV role.

The Outsider centers on an investigation of a gruesome murder of a local boy in a tiny town in Oklahoma. The script was written by Richard Price, who’s no stranger to working with HBO. He received two Emmy nods for his work on limited series The Night Of and was also credited as one of the writers of The Deuce.

Ozark star Jason Bateman will be in charge of directing first two episodes of this intriguing thriller. He’ll also serve as executive producer through his company Aggregate Films, which previously produced several of his films including Bad Words and Game Night.

Frank Darabont took the elements of the story and expanded them, writing a script in 1992. He also assumed the director’s role and the movie, simply titled The Shawshank Redemption, was released two years later.

The movie initially received positive reviews from the critics but failed to have significant commercial success. It was also nominated for seven Academy Awards in 1995 but failed to win a single award.

Years after its release, however, The Shawshank Redemption gained cult status and is now considered as one of the greatest films of all times. It is one of the highest rated movies on IMDb, with 9.3 out of 10 score, while holding a 91 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The news of the adaptation of Stephen King’s horror novel was announced in October of last year by Paramount Pictures. The project is directed by filmmakers Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer who will be working from a script by Jeff Buhler.

The Hollywood Reporter now confirms that Jason Clarke is in talks to star in the upcoming remake. Clarke is currently portraying Ted Kennedy on the big screen in Chappaquiddick; his other credits include the Neil Armstrong biopic First Man, Aftermath and Serenity. 

The novel tells the story of a doctor who moves his family out of the big city to the country. He then discovers that they have moved near a pet cemetery that rests on an ancient burial ground. When his son is killed in an auto accident, he takes the boy’s body to the cemetery, where it is resurrected in demonic form. Clarke is set to play the doctor. 

Pet Sematary will arrive in theaters April 19, 2019.

Chastain is in talks to join Stephen King’s It sequel, and the power of the Internet might have something to do with that. From the moment it was announced that the on-screen adaptation of King’s 1986 novel is going to be split into two parts, it was pretty clear that the second movie would most likely feature adult versions of the characters played by child actors in the first film.

In the search for the appropriate look-alikes, Chastain’s name came up as the perfect option to play the grown-up Beverly Marsh. Even Sophia Lillis, who played the young version of Bev in the first film, agreed.

Director Andy Muschietti and Chastain have worked together on the 2013 horror film Mama. EW reports that he even said during It’s post-production that his hopes to recruit Chastain to the Losers’ Club if the sequel became a reality.

The sequel will follow the all-grown-up Losers’ Club as they go back to Derry to face off against Pennywise one more time. It is scheduled for release in September 2019.
