]]>The record opens with “imagine” followed by “needy”. In the second track, she admits that she can be needy at times, singing “Lately, I’ve been on a roller coaster / Tryna get a hold of my emotions.” She also confesses “I admit that I’m a lil’ messed up / But I can hide it when I’m all dressed up.”
What’s great about Grande’s lyrical confessions is that after the year she’s had, we’d be surprised and disappointed if her album was all smiles and sunshine. After the Manchester attack in 2017, the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller and the whole world watching her breakup with Pete Davidson, her record was an opportunity to address some of her personal trauma.
Instead of wallowing and self-pitying, she has responded with an album that faces her pain head on and Ariana comes out on top. She rises above her drama and in the spirit of “Thank U, Next”, she inspires her young fans in the best way possible to embrace the past… and move on.
There are a few tracks on the album which perhaps don’t hold our attention as well as they could but each has its own message. The quick tempo’d “bad idea” admits to making mistakes when it comes to moving on from previous lovers but is by no means a banger like “7 Rings” or “Thank U, Next.” In “ghostin” Grande tenderly apologizes to her current lover for her tears and sings: “We’ll get through this / we’ll get past this / I’m a girl with / A whole lot of baggage.” To see a young woman of Ariana Grande’s status being so honest with her fans through her music is inspiring.
The last three tracks of the album are the definite highlights. It’s difficult to tap our credit cards now without singing “I want it, I got it” in our heads (7 Rings) and the track finale “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” has a level of sass we didn’t know the angel-faced Ariana Grande had.
Overall, “Thank U Next” is a brutally honest, beautifully empowering record filled with lit bangers and great advice for young women.

]]>Grande’s frequent collaborator Hannah Lux Davis was in charge of directing this video and brought the same kind of playful energy that we’ve previously seen in “7 Rings” and “Thank U, Next,” but their latest collab is the murkiest of the three.
The video for “Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” stars Riverdale actor Charles Melton, and it plays out like another teen drama on the CW. Despite its straight-forward plot-line, some of the fans suggested this video has a deeper meaning and represents an ode to self-love since Ari ends up kissing a girl who looks like a clone of herself at the end of the video.
Grande’s new album Thank U, Next came out on February 8, only six months after her last record Sweetener. Grande said that making this album surrounded by her best friends basically saved her life and helped her find her strength.
“It was kind of this super challenging chapter that sucked, and then my friends made it amazing and special. It turned everything around in my life. I don’t think life has ever been as bad as it was when we started,” the singer explained.

That’s the six-month anniversary of her previous album Sweetener, and the young singer strongly hinted its follow-up is coming soon when she tweeted, “two albums in six months huh. that’s deep. love u. talk
Ari’s album no. 5 should feature a total of 12 songs, and we already know the titles of some of them. Her catchy breakup anthem “Thank U, Next” serves as the title track and the lead single, but we’ve also had a chance to hear promotional single “Imagine” and new hip-hop leaning tune “7 Rings”.

]]>Grande’s long-awaited video finally dropped Friday and fans simply can’t get enough. The music video for Grande’s single in which she name-checks ex-fiancé Pete Davidson and several of her other exes, including Big Sean and the late Mac Miller is here and its cinematic perfection.
The video includes countless references to beloved ’00s rom-coms.
Grande nods to Mean Girls channeling Regina George, originally played by Rachel McAdams. Reprising his role as dreamy Aaron Samuels is Jonathan Bennett. The nod included the iconic “Jingle Bell Rock” dance during which Kris Jenner made her spot-on interpretation of Mrs. George, originally Amy Poehler.
Grande then moves on to the cheerleading classic, Bring It On and recreates the teeth brushing scene opposite Matt Bennett.
Then, she transforms into Jennifer Garner’s Jenna Rink from 13 Going on 30, just in time to sing, “One day I’ll walk down the aisle, holdin’ hands with my mama / I’ll be thankin’ my dad, ’cause she grew from the drama.”
And then comes Elle Woods, where she recreates the famous “bend and snap” scene opposite Jennifer Coolidge.

]]>The young singer recently revealed the music video for the viral hit is in the works – and it will be just as epic as the song itself. As a matter of fact, Grande described it as her favorite video ever. It’s difficult to imagine she could top “God Is a Woman”, but her fans are willing to give it a shot.
Fans started speculating the upcoming video will feature some of the most iconic female characters that Grande’s generation grew up with after she shared a series of cryptic photos on Instagram. Regina George from Mean Girls and Elle Woods from Legally Blonde come to mind, but the singer is yet to confirm the rumors.
“Thank U, Next” will serve as the lead single on Grande’s upcoming fifth album of the same name. It broke a string of record after coming out on November 3 and was described as an ode to gratitude and an anthem to a fresh start and new beginnings.

]]>The 25-year-old singer took the stage on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Wednesday for the first televised performance of her new single, “Thank U, Next.”
The performance, inspired by the hit 1996 film The First Wives Club, was teased by the singer on Instagram. Grande shared a picture of herself with fellow singers Tayla Parx and Victoria Monet. clad in all white sultry ensembles. It was captioned, “First wives club 2018… @theellenshow tomorrow i love you @victoriamonet @taylaparx… thank u, next.”
The single features lines about four of her ex-boyfriends including former fiance, Pete Davidson, the late Mac Miller, Big Sean, and Ricky Alvarez. But the single is also a tribute to the singer’s journey as a woman, which the relationships were part of.
At some point in her performance, the singer almost fell over when stepping down from a chair in heeled boots and exclaimed, “Oh my god!” which was followed by giggles. But the performance was also emotional for the 25-year-old, who sang about her parents:
“One day I’ll walk down the aisle. Holding hands with my mama,” she sang holding back tears. “I’ll be thanking my dad. ‘Cause she grew from the drama.”
