The Favourite led the way at this year’s BAFTA ceremony and topped the list of winners with a total of seven awards. Despite the enormous triumph of this royal satire, the Mexican black and white drama Roma scored a victory in several major categories, including the most important one – best film.

The Favourite was a front-runner from the very start since BAFTA often lean in the way of films made in the UK. In addition to winning outsanding British film of the year, leading ladies Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz walked away with acting awards in their respective categories.

The Favourite also came out victorious in several technical categories and won best original screenplay award thanks to exceptional work of Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara. Alfonso Cuarón’s semi-autobiographical movie Roma picked up a total of four awards, including best film, best director, best cinematography and best foreign film.

This year’s BAFTA ceremony took place at Royal Albert Hall in London on February 10 and it was hosted by Joanna Lumley.

The nominees were announced Tuesday morning by Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross.

This list of nominees for 91st annual Academy Awards boasts a MAJOR first! Black Panther has been nominated for Best Picture, which means that for the first time ever a comic book superhero film earned a Best Picture nom. The Ryan Coogler-helmed feature earned a total of seven nominations.

Also nominated for the night’s biggest honors are A Star Is Born, Green Book, Roma, BlacKkKlansman, The Favourite, Bohemian Rhapsody and Vice.

But this year’s list also includes some major snubs, notably A Star Is Born director Bradley Cooper who was not nominated for Best Director. The remake of the classic film earned eight nominations in total including Best Picture and acting noms for both Cooper and Lady Gaga.

Another surprising snub is Emily Blunt who did not receive a nomination for Best Actress for her portrayal of everyone’s favorite nanny Mary Poppins. The film earned a total of four nods including Best Original Song for “The Place Where Lost Things Go.”

Tying for most nominations of the year with a whopping ten nods each are The Favourite and Roma.

The Favourite was one of the front-runners since the very start of the awards season and it, once again lived, up to its reputation. This satirical look at Queen Anne’s reign received a total of 12 nods at the upcoming BAFTA Film Awards.

The Favourite will be competing in all the major categories, including best film, best British film, and best director. The trio of the leading ladies – Olivia Coleman, Emma Stone, and Rachel Weisz – all received acting nominations for their sublime performances in this critically acclaimed black comedy.

BAFTA voters have also showed a lot of love for Bohemian Rhapsody, First Man, Roma and A Star Is Born. Each of these films will be competing for seven different awards, but only the last two made the cut in the best film category. BlacKkKlansman and Green Book are also in the running for the biggest award of the night.

BAFTA ceremony will take place on February 10, with Joanna Lumley returning as host for the second time in a row.

London Critics’ Circle recently dropped its list of nominations, and The Favourite emerged as… Well, the favorite. This Oscar hopeful lived up to its name at another award ceremony by receiving a total of 10 nods.

Needless to say, Yorgos Lanthimos’ royal satire scored a nomination in all of the major categories, including film of the year. Leading ladies Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz also received a nod in their respective categories, but it was a shocker to see Emma Stone didn’t make the cut.

London critics have also shown a lot of love for Lynne Ramsay’s underrated drama You Were Never Really Here, starring Joaquin Phoenix. This film received a total of five nods, while Roma, Cold War, and The Happy Prince followed with four. London Critics’ Circle Awards will take place on January 20, 2019.

The nominations for the upcoming Critics Choice Awards are just in, and let’s just say it’s pretty easy to tell who’s the favorite. Yorgos Lanthimos’ royal satire received a whooping 14 nods, but it was closely followed by Marvel’s smash-hit Black Panther with 12.

It goes without saying The Favourite got a nod in all the main categories, including best picture and best director. Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, and Rachel Weisz all got acting nominations in their respective categories, and we can’t wait to see if they’ll end up walking away with a trophy.

When it comes to the TV categories, three shows tied for bragging honors with five nods each – The Americans, The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and Escape at Dannemora. Something tells us it’s going to be a close race, and we can’t wait to see who comes out victorious when Critics Choice Awards air on the CW Network on January 13.

In a surprising turn of events, Vice received more nods than any other movie at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards. The Dick Cheney biopic has beaten the likes of other front-runners by receiving six nods, while American Crime Story led the way in TV categories with four nominations.

Despite the fact that the domination of Vice took everyone by surprise, other top contenders were right behind. A Star Is Born, Green Book and The Favourite all received five nods, so it’s safe to expect an epic show-down between these films once the time comes.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association stayed true to their tradition of honoring promising new shows in TV categories. The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story came on top with four nods, but Homecoming, Barry and The Kominsky Method followed with three nods. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will try to replicate its Emmy success since it also received three nominations.

The 76th Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 6, 2019. Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg will take on the hosting duties, after proving they have an amazing chemistry at this year’s Emmy awards.

The Favourite is one of the most anticipated films of the upcoming Oscar season, and the more we learn about it the more excited we get. A מew trailer and poster of this period drama are here and they offer a better look at the battle royale we’re going to witness in a few months.

The Favourite is set in early 18th century England, a time of turmoil and war… and royal intrigue. A frail Queen Anne rules the country, but she needs help of her most loyal friend Lady Sarah to make all the important decisions while her health derails.

Sarah’s privileged position is threatened when a new servantת Abigailת comes to court and catches Queen’s eye. Her arrival puts everything Sarah’s worked for in jeopardy and two women end up competing for affection of the emotionally volatile Queen.

The Favourite stars Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz, and if the experts are correctת all three actresses will be in the mix once awards season rolls along. Their performances received rave reviews at festivals in Telluride and Venice, where this project premiered last week. Variety described it as “perfectly cut diamond of a movieת” but we’ll wait until November 23 to see if it lives up to the buzz.

The Favourite was a front-runner from the very start since BAFTA often lean in the way of films made in the UK. In addition to winning outsanding British film of the year, leading ladies Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz walked away with acting awards in their respective categories.

The nominees were announced Tuesday morning by Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross.

The Favourite was a front-runner at the British Independent Film Awards from the very start, but once the time for this ceremony finally came – it really wreaked havoc. The critically acclaimed royal satire won a total of ten awards, dominating in all the major categories.

BIFA voters named The Favourite the best film of the year, and also rewarded it with the best director and best screenplay awards. Acting honors went to both Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz.

The Favourite led the way with a total of 13 nods this year. The only nominations that didn’t result in a win were the ones for editing and sound, and Stone’s supporting actress nod.

Other movies didn’t stand a chance and only three of them ended up picking up multiple awards at 2018 British Independent Film Awards – Ray & Liz, American Animals, You Were Never Really Here.
