]]>Since its premiere in 2019, The Mandalorian has chronicled the adventures of the lone bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and the Force-sensitive child Grogu, who he’s trying to save from Imperial forces after being hired to hunt him down.
The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau is returning to direct and produce this project, and he said that “the prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, also released a statement confirming this project, saying, “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen.”
The Mandalorian became a smash hit following its premiere in 2019 and produced three seasons so far. The success of this series led to several interconnected spin-offs that expanded the world of the original show, including The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and the upcoming Skeleton Crew.

]]>Pedro Pascal’s The Mandalorian is on a mission to return The Child, a.k.a. Baby Yoda, to his home planet.
The trailer picks up where Season 1 ended with The Mandalorian and The Child continuing their journey and trying to stay safe from the Imperial Remnant officer Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). The pair arrive on a snowy planet before traveling by sea.
A voice-over tells the Mandalorian to return The Child to the Jedi outcasts and the Mandalorian then asks, “you expect me to search the galaxy and return this creature to a race of enemy sorcerers?”
Plot details for the second season haven’t been revealed, but the cast for Season 2 includes Season 1 cast members Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, and Giancarlo Esposito. Joining Season 2 are Timothy Olyphant, Rosario Dawson as Clone Wars character Ahsoka Tano, and Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett.
A third season of The Mandalorian is already in the works.

]]>Olyphant’s role is still under wraps and he’s set to join previously announced Morrison, Rosario Dawson, and Michael Biehn.
Olyphant has become known for his roles on Justified and Deadwood, the former of which he received an Emmy nomination. For films he’s starred in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Dreamcatcher, The Girl Next Door, Live Free or Die Hard, and Hitman.
Season 2 of The Mandalorian is set to be released later this year and Season 3 is already in the works at Disney+. It’s about the Mandalorian, played by Pedro Pascal, a bounty hunter on the fringes of the Star Wars universe, and how he becomes the guardian of a mysterious creature known as The Child, known by fans as Baby Yoda.
The Star Wars universe has been popular at Disney+ with three other shows in the works including the Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor, the Cassian Andor series starring Diego Luna, and the recently announced all female-led Star Wars series from Leslye Headland.

]]>Despite the fact that the first season of The Mandalorian hasn’t debuted yet, executive producer Jon Favreau says that he’s already working on Season 2.
Favreau revealed the news during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The Lion King director told the host, “We’re done with the first season. I’m actually writing part of the second season now. So I’m having a blast.”
He continued: “It’s honestly like turning over your toy chest and playing with all the Star Wars toys together. We’re having a great time.”
The Mandalorian takes place five years after the events of Return of the Jedi. It follows a lone Mandalorian warrior, played by Pedro Pascal, as he travels to a galaxy far away from the New Republic and its laws. Also starring are Giancarlo Esposito, Nick Nolte, Gina Carano as Cara Dune, Emily Swallow, Werner Herzog, Omid Abtahi and Carl Weathers as Greef Carga.

]]>The 77-year-old actor has joined the cast of the live-action Star Wars series set to launch on Disney’s upcoming streaming service, Disney+.
Nolte will star opposite the previously announced Pedro Pascal (Narcos) and Gina Carano. While Disney has kept plot and character details under wraps it is known that Pascal’s titular character, hails from the same warrior tribe as Jango and Boba Fett. It is also known that The Mandalorian picks up between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
The official synopsis reads, “After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
The series hails from Jon Favreau, who will executive produce with Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson and Dave Filoni. Filoni will also direct episodes, as will with Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow.

The Mandalorian isn’t the only Star Wars spin-off that’s set to premiere on Disney’s new streaming service Disney+. Studio’s CEO Bob Iger recently announced they’re also working on Rogue One prequel series, starring Diego Luna as Cassian Andor.
