Steve Martin and John Candy starred in the original film as businessmen trying to get back to Chicago to celebrate Thanksgiving with their family, but along the way, they face a series of travel mishaps.

Smith and Hart will star in the modern take of the film and they’ll play characters who team up and face travel disasters while trying to make their way home to their families.

Smith’s most recent work has been in Bad Boys for Life and Jumanji: The Next Level. He’s currently working on production on King Richard, where he will star as Venus and Serena William’s father and his next role is in Fatherhood which will be released in April 2021.

The mobile short format platform has acquired 16-episode of the stand-up comedy series hosted and executive produced by Will Smith. 

According to multiple outlets, in the series, Smith invites a diverse lineup of up-and-coming, established, and legendary comedians to explore the nature of comedy. This Joka will showcase stand-up sets, as well as one-on-one conversations, intimate interviews, and docu-style moments. 

The comics features in This Joka include Baron Vaughn, Megan Gailey, Punkie Johnson, Sean Patton, Rosebud Baker, Shane Torres, Clayton English, Christi Chiello, Vanessa Gonzalez, Martin Urbano, Sam Tallent, David Gborie, Jackie Fabulous, Chris Estraded, Rell Battle and Daphnique Springs, with special appearances by George Wallace, Demi Adejuyigbe and Shawn Wasabi.

Quibi launches on April 6.

For the third week in a row, the action-comedy series starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence has earned the top spot in the international box office, taking in 30.8 million.

To date, Bad Boys for Life is the highest-grossing installment in the franchise, making over $291 million globally, earning more than the previous record-holder, 2003’s Bad Boys II, which made $271 million and 1995’s Bad Boys, which made $141 million globally.

Bad Boys for Life is about Detective Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence), along with the Miami PD’s elite AMMO team trying to take down Armando Amras (Jacob Scipio), the head of the drug cartel. Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Nunez, Kate Del Castillo, and Nicky Jam are also starring in the film.

The second spot at box offices this past weekend is 1917—earning 20.9 million on top of the $249 million it’s already made. Dolittle took the third spot making 17.7 million on top of it’s $126 million to date. Lionsgate’s Knives Out also continues to dominate the box office and it’s close to making $300 million.

The forthcoming sci-fi movie is an adaptation of Marcus Sakey’s dystopian trilogy of the same name. 

The adaptation is being penned by Akiva Goldsman. Smith and Goldsman also produce with James Lassiter and Shane Salerno.

The novel is set in the future in a world in which 1% percent of the population has been born with special powers since 1980, who are demonized by society as “twists” or “abnorms.” While they are officially labeled as “Brilliants,” the government makes sure to tracked them so they don’t threaten the status quo of the “normal” population.

According to Deadline, Smith will play Nick Cooper, a federal agent whose job is to track down and terminate “abnorms” who use their gifts for ill. He himself is an “abnorm” and the father of a “Brilliant” daughter.

The feature is currently in production. A director is not yet on board.

Smith leads the pic’s voice cast opposite Tom Holland. The duo star as on-screen duo suave spy Lance Sterling and not quite smooth scientist Walter Beckett.

When events take an unexpected turn, “the unlikely duo are forced to team up for the ultimate mission that will require transforming Lance into the brave, fierce, majestic pigeon.”

“Pigeons are everywhere and nobody notices them. It’s the most perfect form a spy could take,” Walter tells a very distraught Lance in all his fowl glory. 

Rashida Jones as Agent Marcy Kappel, DJ Khaled as Ears, Karen Gillan as Eyes, Ben Mendelsohn and Masi Oka also star. 

The animated feature is based on Lucas Martell’s 2009 animated short Pigeon: Impossible and is directed by Troy Quane and Nick Bruno.

The recently released Aladdin live-action remake is officially the highest-grossing movie of Smith’s career. The remake of the 1992 animated classic, overtook Independence Day the now-former title holder of the star’s biggest film ever globally.

Smith was so moved that he took the time to thank his fans in a video he shared on Instagram over the weekend.

“This is a post that I’m just humbled and honored to make right now….To be in this game as long as I’ve been in this game and to have my biggest movie at this point of my career, I just want to say thank you,” shared the 50-year-old actor before proceeding to say thank you in more than a dozen languages. “Just thank you, everybody, around the world, thank you, thank you. After months of waiting, Disney has finally dropped a trailer for Aladdin that reveals Smith is his full magical Genie form. This trailer released Sunday night comes after Disney released the first teaser-trailer for its live-action remake of the 1992 animated film in October.

In the short glimpse, we get to see Smith’s bulked-up Genie towering over Mena Massoud’s Aladdin in the Cave of Wonders. The trailer also features Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar. Also starring in the film are Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen and Numan Acar. Frank Welker will reprise his role as voice actor for Abu, Aladdin’s pet monkey, as well as the voice of the Cave of Wonders.

Guy Ritchie is at the helm of Aladdin. He is directing from a script penned by John August. 

The original Aladdin was the highest-grossing film of 1992 and the first animated feature to reach the half-billion mark. It was the highest-grossing animated film of all-time until surpassed by The Lion King in 1994. The animated film also won two Academy Awards and a Grammy for Song of the Year.

Aladdin hits theaters May 24, 2019.

Will Smith is definitely making someone’s wishes come true, revealing the first poster for the upcoming live-action Aladdin feature. 

Fans were given a first look at the magic gold lamp from Disney’s Aladdin helmed by Guy Ritchie. Smith, who stars as the Genie, took to social media on Wednesday. He captioned the iconic lamp image that reads, “Choose wisely,” with “LEMME OUT!!  Can’t wait for y’all to see Me BLUE! :-).”

Filming of the Disney classic began September 2017. In November of that year, the film celebrated its 25th anniversary. Back then Smith shared a selfie of the cast and wrote, “We just started shooting Aladdin and I wanted to intro you guys to our new family… Mena Massoud/Aladdin, Naomi Scott/Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari/Jafar, and I’m over here gettin my Genie on.”

The live-action movie will feature new characters as well as new songs composed by renowned composer lan Menken and the Tony Award-winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Aladdin is set to premiere on May 24, 2019.
