CALIFORNIA – Texting the cellphone wrong number landed two Sacramento County residents in jail, in a drug sale gone wrong.
When a Placer County Sheriff’s detective received a strange text message from a number he didn’t recognize, he never thought it was be from a drug dealer on accident. A woman who texted him by accident offered to sell prescription narcotics to the detective, of course without knowing who really was on the other end.
The detective played along, engaging in the chat, finally setting up a meeting during which she would sell him the pills.
The penpal relationship ended at the meeting when detectives arrested the texter, 41 year old Rachelle Renfroe of Citrus Heights and her presumed partner Andre Renfroe, 45, of Carmichael on suspicion of possession of narcotic substances for sale.
