The BAFTA TV Awards are coming back to London this spring, and the list of nominations is finally in. The final season of The Crown is among the top contenders with eight nods, but the Netflix anthology series Black Mirror is right behind with seven nominations.

According to BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip, this year’s list of nominees includes over 100 television programs across 12 broadcasters and streamers, and they’re proud to showcase this incredible roster of talent.

“It is a real privilege to announce today’s nominations which recognize the most gripping, entertaining, challenging, funniest, most informative, highest quality, and most impactful TV programs of 2023, as voted for by BAFTA members,” said Millichip in a statement.

The Crown will enter this year’s BAFTA TV Awards with eight nominations, starting with the acting nods for Dominic West, Elizabeth Debecki, Lesley Manville, and Salim Daw. Despite being the ceremony’s most-nominated show, the royal drama lost the best drama series nomination to The Gold, Happy Valley, Slow Horses, and Top Boy.

Black Mirror owes its seven nominations to the final Season 6 episode “Demon 79”. It received nominations for best limited drama series, best leading actress (Anjana Vasan), plus five craft awards.

The British Academy Television Awards will air live on BBC One on May 12 from the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Oppenheimer came into this year’s BAFTA Awards with a whopping 13 nominations, and it lived up to the hype! Christopher Nolan’s atomic bomb epic continued its award season domination by winning seven awards at the BAFTAs, including the coveted best film.

Oppenheimer faced tough competition in the best film field, where it was running against Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Poor Things. It managed to beat them all and walk away with trophies in six additional categories.

Nolan won the best director prize for his work on this film, while Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. collected acting accolades for their respective performances. Oppenheimer also led the way in several technical categories, including best cinematography, editing, and original score.

It was also a night to remember for Poor Things, the winner of five awards at this year’s BAFTAs, including best actress trophy for its leading lady Emma Stone. The Zone of Interest was right behind with three awards, including the coveted outstanding British film trophy. It defeated the likes of Poor Things, All of Us Strangers, and Saltburn to walk away with this prize.

The 2024 BAFTA Awards were held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 18, with David Tennant hosting the festivities.

After months of anticipation, the British Academy finally unveiled the list of BAFTA nominees, bringing many surprises our way. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer emerged as the top contender with 13 nods, with Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things right behind with 11.

Oppenheimer and Poor Things are both in the running for the coveted best film award, along with Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, and Killers of the Flower Moon. Despite making it to the same category at many international award shows, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie didn’t make the cut in this field, and it only received five nominations.

Poor Things also received a nod for the best British film, where it will be competing against the likes of All of Us Strangers, Saltburn, Wonka, and The Zone of Interest, which scored an impressive nine nominations.

“Killers of the Flower Moon” will also be among the main contenders at this year’s BAFTAs with nine nominations, despite being snubbed in some of the major categories. Most shockingly, Lily Gladstone and Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t receive nods for their lead performances, and neither did the director Martin Scorsese.

The 2024 BAFTA Awards will return to the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 18, with David Tennant hosting the show for the very first time.

Some of Hollywood’s biggest stars won the BAFTA Rising Star Award in the past, and we finally know who’ll be competing for this prestigious honor in 2024. The list of nominees for the Rising Star Award is in, and it includes the likes of Jacob Elordi and Ayo Edebiri.

Edebiri was one of the busiest young talents in Hollywood this past year, starring in about a dozen projects, including films Theater Camp and Bottoms and the TV series The Bear, for which she just won her first Golden Globe.

Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi also had a busy 2023 and he’s fresh off starring in Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla and Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn. The list of contenders for the Rising Star Award will also include Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton), Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me), and Mia McKenna-Bruce (How to Have S-x).

BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip said that “these remarkable individuals represent what BAFTA and the EE Rising Star Award stand for as the future of the film industry, embodying innovation, dedication, and a commitment to storytelling that captivates audiences worldwide.”

The British Academy Film Awards nomination will be unveiled on January 18, one month ahead of the award ceremony on February 18, hosted by David Tennant.

The BAFTA Film Awards are coming our way next month, and the ceremony found the most perfect host we could’ve possibly hoped for. Doctor Who actor David Tennant will serve as the master of the ceremonies at the upcoming BAFTAs at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

Best known for his role in the beloved shows Doctor Who, Broadchurch, and Good Omens, Tennant follows in the footsteps of the Saltburn star Richard E. Grant and will host the BAFTAs for the first time this year.

“I am delighted to have been asked to host the EE BAFTA Film Awards and help celebrate the very best of this year’s films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life,” he said in a statement.

Jane Millichip, CEO of BAFTA, said they’re over the moon that Tennant will be the host of the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards, adding that his warmth, charm, and mischievous wit will make the upcoming show a must-watch.

In addition to announcing Tennant as the host, the BAFTAs also shared the longlist for all 24 award categories. Nominations will be announced by Naomi Ackie and Kingsley Ben-Adir on January 18, while the BAFTA Award ceremony will return to the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 18.

All Quiet on the Western Front made history when it received 14 nods at this year’s BAFTAs, and it lived up to the high expectations. The acclaimed anti-war drama was the biggest winner of the night at this year’s BAFTA Awards, with a total of seven accolades.

All Quiet tied the record held by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to become the most-nominated non-English language film in the ceremony’s history with 14 nods. It was in the running for the best film award, and it managed to beat the likes of The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Tár to win it.

In addition to picking up the night’s biggest award, All Quiet came out victorious in six more categories: best director, best adapted screenplay, best cinematography, best original score, best sound, and best film not in the English language.

It was also a huge night for Martin McDonagh, who won the award for the outstanding British film with The Banshees of Inisherin. This film was one of two, in addition to Elvis, to win four accolades at this year’s BAFTAs, including acting awards for its supporting stars Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon.

The 76th British Academy Film Awards returned to the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 19, with Richard E. Grant and Alison Hammond hosting the festivities.
