The Billboard Music Awards returned to celebrate the best music of 2023 on Sunday night, and the list of winners is truly an embarrassment of riches. The country singer Morgan Wallen led the way with 11 wins, followed by the pop icon Taylor Swift with 10 awards.

Swift had to beat tough competition in Drake, Wallen, SZA, and Luke Combs to be named the top artist at this year’s ceremony. Both Swift and Drake brought their career totals to 39 wins at this year’s Billboard Music Awards, setting a new record for most awards won by a single artist.

Swift wasn’t able to pick up her awards in person because she’s currently busy touring across South America, but she took a moment to tune in via video and thank her passionate fanbase in her acceptance speech.

“I’m talking to the fans specifically. None of this happens without you. The Billboards base everything off of what you are listening to and what you’re passionate about, and I’m so honored that this year you made The Eras Tour so magical,” said Swift.

As for Wallen, he walked away with 11 awards, including top male artist, top Billboard 200 album for One Thing at the Time, and top Hot 100 song for “Last Night”. Drake collected five accolades, and SZA and Zach Bryan were right behind with four each.

Another Billboard Music Awards ceremony is behind us and it gave top honors to one of the biggest breakout stars of the past year. Olivia Rodrigo topped the list of winners with a total of seven awards, followed by Drake with five.

Rodrigo was named the top new artist and top female artist, but she also managed to collect the awards for the top Hot 100 artist, top streaming songs artist, top radio songs artist, top Billboard 200 Global artist, and top Billboard 200 album with Sour.

She didn’t have such a great showing in the song categories, where she lost most of her nominations for “Good 4 U” to “Stay” by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber including the top Hot 100 song, top streaming song, and top Billboard Global 200 song.

As for Drake, he managed to beat the likes of Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd to win the biggest award of the night—the top artist. He won five trophies this year, bringing his total to 34 awards and cementing his status as the most-awarded artist in BBMA history.

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 15 with Sean “Diddy” Combs serving as a host.

We can always count on Kelly Clarkson to deliver a great show, and that’s probably why the masterminds behind the Billboard Music Awards felt it’s a good idea to bring her back to host this ceremony for the third time in a row.

Billboard Music Awards will take place on April 29th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. NBC will be in charge of the live broadcast, and the list of nominees and performers will be announced at a later date.

Clarkson is no stranger to hosting this ceremony since she was in charge of the show in both 2018 and 2019. She opened the Billboard Music Awards by performing a medley of the biggest hits released by other artists in the months leading up to the ceremony.

The American Idol winner has a lot more hosting experience under her belt at this point since she’s currently hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show on NBC. Before hosting the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, her Vegas residency Kelly Clarkson: Invincible is scheduled to kick off on April 1st at the Zappos Theater.

This year’s Billboard Music Awards were all about Drake!

The Canadian rap star walked away with a total of 12 awards at the end of the night and used his acceptance speeches to thank everyone from his collaborators to Arya Stark.

Drake came out victorious in all of the major categories, including top artist, top Billboard 200 album and top Hot 100 artist thanks to his chart-topping double album Scorpion.

“It was a really lengthy album, so it’s a lot of people to mention, but thank you to everybody who gave me their time, their energy, stayed away from their family and friends while we were trying to complete this,” said Drake in his acceptance speech.

His domination of this year’s Billboard Music Awards brought Drake to a career total of 27 BMAs, making him the top award recipient in the history of this ceremony.

Kelly Clarkson did an amazing job hosting the Billboard Music Awards last year, and she’s coming for more. The three-time Grammy winner has been announced as host of the upcoming ceremony, taking place this spring.

The The Voice coach is super excited about hosting again, since she had a blast taking on this huge responsibility in 2018, when the show aired on NBC for the first time ever.

“I had so much fun hosting the Billboard Music Awards last year that I’m back for more. We’re turning it up a notch this year, and I can’t wait to celebrate all of my fellow amazing artists for another unforgettable night of live music,” said Clarkson.

Billboard Music Awards will take place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 1. The list of nominees is yet to be unveiled, and we still haven’t learned who’s going to perform during this three-hour long awards show.
