Borderlands draws inspiration from Gearbox Software’s hit video game franchise of the same name, and it’s been adapted for the big screen by Joe Crombie and Eli Roth, who also serves as its director.
Borderlands will be released theatrically by Lionsgate on August 9.

]]>Nightmare Alley is Oscar winner del Toro’s follow-up to The Shape of Water, which won Best Picture. Del Toro will direct the pic from a script he co-wrote with Kim Morgan.
The film is based on William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel of the same name. This isn’t the first time the story is getting a feature adaptation – Nightmare Alley was previously made into a film in 1947 starring actor Tyrone Power.
The story follows an ambitious young con-man who joins a traveling carnival. But after the young man teams up with a female psychiatrist who is even more corrupt than he is, she ends up out-manipulating the manipulator.
Nightmare Alley is Cooper’s first role since his Oscar-nominated performance in A Star is Born. You can see Blanchett next in Richard Linklater’s Where’d You Go Bernadette?

]]>Mrs. America tells the story of the conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly, who leads an unexpected fight against the Equal Rights Amendment movement. This promising project will explore “how one of the toughest battlegrounds in the culture wars of the ’70s helped give rise to the Moral Majority and forever shifted our political landscape.”
Banks will take on the role of Jill Ruckelshaus – a pro-choice, socially progressive Republican, appointed by President Ford to advance women’s rights and stop Schlafly and the religious right from taking over the Republican Party.
Mrs. America will show this era through the eyes of several noted second-wave feminists, including Gloria Steinem (Rose Byrne), Betty Friedan (Tracey Ullman) and Shirley Chisholm (Uzo Aduba). The star-studded cast also includes Sarah Paulson, James Marsden, and Melanie Lynskey.

]]>This exciting dramedy, based on the bestselling novel by Maria Semple, tells the tale of a Seattle woman who disappears without a trace. Instead of waiting for her to suddenly re-appear, Bernadette’s brilliant daughter sets out a search to find her and solve the mystery behind her disappearance.
Where’d You Go, Bernadette was described as a touching novel about a misplaced genius and a mother and daughter’s role in an absurd world. It seems like the upcoming movie will perfectly capture the spirit of these two amazing women. Cate Blanchett never disappointed us, and she’ll have great support in the newcomer Emma Nelson.
Richard Linklater directed and wrote the movie, and convinced the likes of Billy Crudup, Laurence Fishburne, Kristen Wiig, and Judy Greer to join the cast. Where’d You Go, Bernadette is scheduled for 22 March 2019 release.

]]>The 15-second teaser showcases the star-studded cast of Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway and Awkwafina.
The teaser starts with Bullock as Debbie Ocean talking to Lou (Blanchett). The two talk about Ocean’s plan to pull off a heist at New York City’s annual Met Gala. “Why do you need to do this?” Lou asks, to which Debbie replies, “Because it’s what I’m good at.”
The teaser offers little clues regarding what is to be expected but among the rapid scene flashes, Debbie is seen sipping a martini while sitting in front of a grave that reads “Danny Ocean, 1961-2018,” suggesting that George Clooney’s character has died.
Also expected to make cameo appearances in the film are Olivia Munn, Katie Holmes, Kim Kardashian West, Kendall Jenner and Matt Damon.
