Stewart praised Yuknavitch’s memoir for honoring corporeal experience, adding it felt vital for her to make that experience physical by transforming it into a film.
“This project has been cooking for five years with the help of Scott Free, whom I could not be more privileged to have as partners and friends. Imogen Poots will carry this movie and the staggering weight of Lidia’s life. She can hold it. I am beyond lucky to have her,” said Stewart in a statement.
Stewart is fresh off her first Oscar nomination for playing Princess Diana in Pablo Larraín’s Spencer, and we’ve recently seen her star in Crimes of the Future. The Chronology of Water will mark her feature directorial debut, but she’s previously helmed short films Come Swim and Crickets.

]]>According to the official logline, Spencer is “an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days” when Princess Diana spent Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate with the rest of the royal family and came to a realization that her marriage to Prince Charles is nearing its final stage.
The first full trailer sees Diana dealing with the mounting pressure of her royal role from all sides—the media, the royal family, and Prince Charles himself. The trailer features conformation between the royal couple, where he tries to explain there has to be two of them – the real one and one for the cameras and the rest of the world.
Spencer has been directed by Pablo Larraín, who previously worked on the Jackie Kennedy biopic Jackie, and it will hit the theaters on November 5th. In addition to Stewart, the film also stars Jack Farthing, Timothy Spall, Sean Harris, and Sally Hawkins.

]]>Written and directed by Cronenberg, this sci-fi drama will take “a deep dive into the not-so-distant future where humankind is learning to adapt to its synthetic surroundings” and explore the rise of “accelerated evolution syndrome”, as reported by Deadline.
Crimes of the Future will be Cronenberg’s fourth collaboration with Viggo Mortensen, following A History of Violence, Eastern Promises, and A Dangerous Method. In addition to starring Stewart and Seydoux, the supporting cast of this project will also include Scott Speedman, Welket Bungué, Don McKellar, and Lihi Kornowski.
Crimes of the Future is Cronenberg’s first directorial effort since 2014 when his last movie Maps to the Stars came out. Mortensen discussed their collaboration with Variety in 2016, saying Cronenberg has been struggling to get financial backing for his projects. However, earlier this year he teased their next team-up in an interview with GQ.

]]>Kristen Stewart takes on the role of Abby, who’s planning to propose to her girlfriend Harper (Mackenzie Davis) at a Christmas party at her family home. The only catch? Harper still hasn’t come out to her conservative parents, and they think Abby is just her platonic roommate.
The chemistry between Stewart and Davis is the strongest in the early scenes of the movie while the supporting actors do a much better job carrying the rest of it. Schitt’s Creek’s Dan Levy is as hilarious as always as Abby’s best friend, and Parks and Recreation’s Aubrey Plaza does a great job bringing some nuance to the role of Harper’s secret ex-girlfriend.
We’re used to Levy and Plaza doing a great job in each project they appear in, but the real MVP of Happiest Season is the relative newcomer Mary Holland. Surrounded by a cast of established actors, including Alison Brie, Victor Garber, and Mary Steenburgen, she manages to shine the brightest as Harper’s quirky sister Jane, who steals every scene she’s in.
Happiest Season falls into some of the common traps of “meet the parents while harboring a huge secret” trope, but it’s a genuinely enjoyable and charming Hulu original. The relationship between the two leads could’ve been better fleshed-out, but the movie makes up for it with its truly hilarious supporting cast, making this the perfect rom-com to add to your watch list this holiday season.

The honor was announced by festival organizers Monday.
“Although she could have been involved in blockbuster movies after the Twilight series, Stewart has consistently opted for artistically engaged indie films by writers such as Walter Salles, Olivier Assayas, and Ang Lee,” said ZFF’s Nadja Schildknecht & Karl Spoerri. “She succeeded the difficult balancing act between mainstream and art house in an exemplary way. With her fearless portrayal of Jean Seberg she once again proves to be one of the most versatile actresses of our generation.”

This is the latest purchase in Amazon Studio’s buying spree, following its buying five film out of the Sundance Film Festival market. The studio’s move for the indie was made after viewing a promotional reel only.
Against All Enemies is inspired by the real-life events of the FBI’s attempts to discredit Seberg, French New Wave darling, because of her romantic involvement with civil rights activist Hakim Jamal and her support of the Black Panther Party.
The film also stars Jack O’Connell, Anthony Mackie, Colm Meaney, Margaret Qualley, Vince Vaughn, Zazie Beetz, Stephen Root and Yvan Attal. O’Connell is set to play an FBI agent and Mackie will portray a civil rights activist Jamal.
Against All Enemies is currently in post-production.

Happiest Season will be directed by Clea DuVall, who also wrote the script alongside Mary Holland. She made her directorial debut with The Intervention in 2016, and this will be her first movie at the studio level.
It’s safe to say Stewart won’t start shooting her next project before she’s done with Charlie’s Angels. She seemed extremely excited about this remake before the filming started and explained this version won’t simply be an impression of the last one.
“The re-imagining is so grounded and well intentioned and really shows the way women can work together now. It tries to be warm and funny, but it lacks a kitch element that we have seen before that works so well,” said Stewart.

Wittrock starts unraveling after losing her attention and eventually ends up in a fight, as we watch Stewart leaving the party without a worry in the world. Interpol’s lead singer, Paul Banks, described the duo as the perfect choice for “If You Really Love Nothing” video and said they couldn’t be happier with the casting.
“Kristen Stewart is the perfect actress for this part. I don’t think there’s anyone that could have better played the role. She nails it, and I love the performance from Finn Wittrock. Another wonderful casting choice – he plays the role of Kristen’s beleaguered companion beautifully,” said Banks.
“If You Really Love Nothing” is the last single from Interpol’s sixth studio album Marauder. It hit the shelves on August 24, only a day after their stylish new video dropped.
