]]>Not much is known about the plot of this film, but Deadline dropped some major hints about it in their initial report. This project will have a contemporary setting and a larger budget than all of Anderson’s previous works, which is reportedly approaching $100 million.
It’s also been reported this film will be a large ensemble piece, in the vein of Anderson’s previous hit movies Boogie Nights and Magnolia. DiCaprio, Hall, and Penn will lead the way, but they’ll be joined by a big ensemble, and the cast is still shaping up.
This untitled film marks the follow-up to Anderson’s Licorice Pizza, and he’s also set to produce it alongside Sara Murphy and Adam Somner, in addition to directing and writing the script.
DiCaprio is fresh off starring in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon just last year, for which he received nominations for many prestigious awards, including the Golden Globe. Hall last appeared in Netflix’s buddy comedy Me Time, while Penn starred in Black Flies, Daddio, and Gonzo Girl throughout 2023.

]]>Just like their next film Killers of the Flower, this project is based on David Grann’s non-fiction book, titled The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder. The book is due out in April 2023 and Apple Original Films landed the rights for the film adaptation.
The action is set in the 1740s and it centers on a captain and his crew following a shipwreck on a desolate island off the coast of Brazil. In addition to struggling to survive one of the most extreme climates on the planet, they also had to battle their own human natures to make it out alive.
If everything goes according to plan, The Wager will mark the seventh collaboration between DiCaprio and Scorsese. They recently joined forces for the western crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon, set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next year. In addition to DiCaprio, its cast also includes Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Lily Gladstone, and Brendan Fraser.

]]>The festival’s director, Thierry Frémaux, announced the news in an official press release, and it was clear he couldn’t be more delighted to welcome Tarantino back.
“We were afraid the film would not be ready, as it wouldn’t be released until late July, but Quentin Tarantino, who has not left the editing room in four months, is a real, loyal and punctual child of Cannes,” said Frémaux.
This prestigious festival holds a special place in Tarantino’s heart, and it’s the most fitting spot for the world premiere of his latest film. After all, Cannes was the place where he won Palme d’Or for his cult classic Pulp Fiction exactly 25 years ago.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will also be a part of the main competition, but regular movie-goers will have to wait until July 26 to see it in the theaters. The star-studded cast of this epic includes the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie.

Nightmare Alley is based on William Lindsay Gresham novel of the same name, and it already spawned one successful adaptation back in 1947. Instead of making a direct remake of this classic, Del Toro intends to offer his own take on Gresham’s intriguing book.
DiCaprio is in negotiations to portray an ambitious conman Stanton Carlisle, but he’s yet to officially accept the part. Oscar-winner has always been extremely picky when it comes to his roles, and we haven’t seen him on the big screen ever since The Revenant. He’ll finally make a comeback this year in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, alongside Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie.

]]>McConaughey just revealed he was one of the actors who audition to play the lead in Titanic, and he still regrets not getting the part. McConaughey said he audition with Kate Winslet, and he was sure he nailed it after leaving the room.
He was pretty confident he’ll get the role, but James Cameron never called back. “I didn’t get it. I never got offered that. And as I’ve said before not even half-jokingly if it’s true if that was an offer and it didn’t come to me, I’ve got to go back and go, ‘I’ve got to meet in an alley with that agent,'” said the actor.
Matthew McConaughey probably wasn’t too bitter about it after starring alongside DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street and seeing how great of an actor he is. Ironically, they were both nominated for Academy Award for Best Actor that year, and McConaughey ended up scoring the win thanks to his amazing turn in Dallas Buyers Club.

]]>Deadline reports that a reboot of The Facts of Life is in early stages of development. Helming the gestating project are Sony Pictures TV with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson’s Appian Way who’s currently in negotiations to produce alongside Jessica Biel via her Iron Ocean Films.
The Facts of Life, in itself a spinoff that ran for nine seasons on NBC. The series followed a group of girls at a boarding school who were looked after Mrs. Garrett (Charlotte Rae). The series delved deep into issues that teenage girls face such as drug use, sex, eating disorders and peer pressure. The cast also included Kim Fields, Mindy Cohn, Cloris Leachman, Lisa Whelchel, Nancy McKeon and at various points Molly Ringwald, George Clooney and even Pamela Adlon.
The Facts of Life was nominated for three Emmys during its run.

]]>Van Sant who was originally considered to direct the 2006 drama revealed in an interview with IndieWire that both Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt passed on the film.
“Nobody wanted to do it,” he said. “I was working on it, and I felt like we needed a really strong cast, like a famous cast. That wasn’t working out. I asked the usual suspects: Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Ryan Phillippe. They all said no.”
This revelation was confirmed by the film’s producer and screenwriter Diana Ossana who, in an email to IndieWire wrote, “Yes, all those young gentlemen (at the time) turned down the project, for various reasons.”
The film that chronicles the agony-filled love story of two modern cowboys, what a huge hit and turned out it be a truly groundbreaking LGBTQ film. It earned eight Oscars nominations (the most of any film that year) including best actor and best supporting actor for Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, respectively.
As for Van Sant not directing the film, he added, “I was not ready. I’m not sure why. There was just sort of a hiccup on my part. There was something off with myself, I guess, whatever was going on.”
