]]>Chance the Rapper is in talks to join Warner Bros’ live-action adaptation of Sesame Street. Should he board the project, he will star opposite Anne Hathaway.
The musical feature hails from Jonathan Krisel with Bo Burnham contributing songs to the new film.
According to Variety, the film follows the iconic Sesame Street characters after they are mysteriously expelled from their own neighborhood, forcing them to collaborate with history show host Sally Hawthorne to prove that Sesame Street actually exists.
The original Sesame Street series debuted in 1969. It recently got picked up for five new seasons on HBO Max.

]]>Multiple outlets confirm that a fourth Matrix movie is coming, and yet it will star Keanu Reeves.
The acclaimed cyber-action franchise is being rebooted by Warner Bros and the upcoming installment will star Reeves as Neo and his original costar Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity.
Original co-creator, Lana Wachowski, will also return to write, direct and produce.
“We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana,” said Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group. “Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe.”
“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” added Wachowski. “I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”
The third and last movie in the franchise, The Matrix Revolutions hit theaters in 2003. The first film launched the series in 1999.

]]>Cheadle joins LeBron James in the follow-up to the 1996 movie. The reboot of Warner Bros’ Looney Tunes stable is directed by Terence Nance.
The original was a massive hit that starred Michael Jordan and featured cameos from a number of NBA all-stars who starred alongside classic Looney Tunes characters. It grossed over $230M at the global box office.
While the casting has been confirmed, no further details are currently known about his role.
Cheadle currently stars in the 1980s-set Showtime comedy Black Monday. He also starred in Avengers: Endgame, the second-biggest-grossing film of all time. You can see him next in the upcoming sci-fi drama series Don’t Look Deeper for Quibi.

]]>Netflix and Warner Bros. TV have teamed up to bring us a television adaptation of the comic book series from DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint.
News of the forthcoming live-action TV series follows New Line’s failed attempt to turn the graphic novel into a feature film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is the most expensive TV series that DC Entertainment has ever done.
Penning the series is Wonder Woman and Grey’s Anatomy Allan Heinberg. Heinberg will also serve as showrunner with Gaiman set to executive produce alongside David Goyer.
The Sandman, which spanned 75 issues, centers on Morpheus, an ancient, powerful being, one of the Endless, a set of seven siblings that includes Delirium, Desire, Destruction, Despair, Destiny, and Death.

]]>Pattison edged out another frontrunner for the role – Nicholas Hoult – after the two were screen tested. The studio announced its official pick Friday.
The Twilight alum will play the Caped Crusader, taking over the role for Ben Affleck, who starred two films and made an appearance in a third. According to multiple outlets, negotiations are already underway and the studio intends to sign Pattinson for a three-picture deal.
The feature, an origin story, is directed by Matt Reeves, who assumed the role of director from Affleck himself back in January 2017.
Pre-production is expected to start this summer, with the film slated to arrive in theaters June 25, 2021.

Tom & Jerry first appeared in the ‘40s from animation duo William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Hanna and Barbera then introduced more beloved characters to the animated television world including The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, The Smurfs, The Jetsons, and The Super Friends.
The studio also announced an untitled Sesame Street feature is set for release in two years.
According to sources, Sesame Street will begin shooting in June and will be released January 2021. Jonathan Krisel has been set as director. The revival will bring everyone’s favorite characters to the big screen including Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Elmo and many more. According to Variety, the now vacant slot is going to an untitled WB event film.
Sherlock Holmes 3 follows 2011’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. The franchise debuted with Sherlock Holmes in 2009. The two films, which had a production budget of $215 million, hauled a combined $1 billion at the global box office, which has proved the franchise to be hugely popular.
Downey and Law are set to reprise their roles as the titular detective and his sidekick, Dr. Watson, respectively. Chris Brancato penned the script. Susan Downey, Joel Silver and Lionel Wigram are producing. No director has been attached to the project.

The musical adaptation is said to be a “ruder, raunchier, and frankly, more repellant” version of Burton’s film.
Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher) will direct the production that will be choreographed by Connor Gallagher (The Robber Bridegroom), with an original score by Eddie Perfect (King Kong) and a book by Scott Brown and Emmy nominee Anthony King (Broad City).
Beetlejuice tells the story of death-obsessed teenager Lydia, who has just moved into a house haunted by a recently deceased couple and one obnoxious ghost.
After Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which didn’t do so well on Broadway, Beetlejuice marks the latest, high-profile Broadway bet for Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures.

]]>Warner Bros. has signed up the acclaimed filmmaker to direct New Gods as part of the studio’s DC Extended Universe. The superhero saga is based on DC comics series of the same name, first penned by legendary writer Jack Kirby in the 1970s.
The film involves a complex mythology and a pantheon of deities who hail from two twin planets, the idyllic New Genesis ruled by the Highfather, and Apokolips, a dystopia filled with machinery and fire pits ruled by Darkseid. Both of them consider themselves gods, living outside of normal space and time in a realm called the Fourth World.
The complex and large cast of characters could be challenging when it comes to bringing the franchise to the big screen but DuVernay has proven her skills with her take on A Wrinkle in Time. DuVernay became the first black woman in Hollywood to direct a live-action movie with a production budget of $100 million. The fantasy film has grossed to $42.2 million in its first six days in North America, according to Variety.
On Thursday, the 45-year-old director may have confirmed her involvement with the DC film when she thanked Jack Kirby on Twitter alongside a black and white photo of the famous creator.
If Warner Bros. push through with DuVernay, she will be the first woman of color to direct a DC Comics movie, ET reports. She previously directed the Oscar-nominated documentary 13th and the historical drama film, Selma.

]]>The director who helmed the acclaimed Paddington movies is trading marmalade for chocolate. Paul King is in talks to direct Willy Wonka, an on-screen re-imagining of the classic children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The network and King are in final negotiations; Warner Bros. first announced it was developing the project back in fall 2016. This also means that King would be reunited with David Heyman, the producer of the Paddington movies as well as Harry Potter movies.
Penned by Simon Rich the film will center on Wonka’s adventures prior to the events of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The Paddington franchise is shaping out to be highly successful with the second installment earning a record breaking 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. If King and Warner Bros. team up, it looks like Dahl’s fans will get to enjoy another outstanding franchise.
