The Oscars are reportedly planning to have five of the previous acting winners present in their respective categories… and the clues are everywhere! Several more Oscar winners will present at the ceremony, including Sally Field (Norma Rae, Places in the Heart), Ben Kingsley (Gandhi), Tim Robbins (Mystic River), Mary Steenburgen (Melvin and Howard), Charlize Theron (Monster), Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained), and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland).

Written and directed by Benny Safdie, The Smashing Machine will chronicle the trials and tribulations of the MMA legend Mark Kerr. He rose to prominence during the no-holds-barred era of the UFC but struggled to continue his domination while grappling with addiction, winning, love, and friendship.

Blunt will portray Kerr’s wife Dawn Staples, who’s not quite sure where she fits within his chaotic and contradictory world. Johnson will also produce this project through Seven Bucks Productions in addition to playing the lead role, while the rest of the cast is yet to be announced.

This will mark the second collaboration between Blunt and Johnson, who previously led Disney’s Jungle Cruise in 2021. They’re attached to the sequel of this fantasy adventure film, which is still in the early stages of development.

Blunt most recently starred in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which earned her an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress. She’ll next be seen in David Leitch’s action comedy The Fall Guy alongside Ryan Gosling.

Ryan Gosling plays the past-his-prime stuntman Colt Seavers, who agrees to take part in a mega-budget studio directed by his ex Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). Things take a wild turn when its lead Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) goes missing, and Colt takes it upon himself to find him in an attempt to get back into Jody’s good graces.

The film’s star-studded cast also includes Winston Duke (Black Panther), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Teresa Palmer (A Discovery of Witches), and the star of the original The Fall Guy series, Lee Majors.

Oppenheimer is based on the book American Prometheus, written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, and it follows the life of the theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. He was the director of the Manhattan Project, which developed the first nuclear weapons during World War II, leading to the creation of the first atomic bomb.

The trailer opens with a voiceover from Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer saying, “We imagine a future and our imaginings horrify. They would fear it until they understand it, and they won’t understand it until they’ve used it.” It’s intersected with a series of visually stunning shots, that we’re used to seeing in a Christopher Nolan movie.

In addition to Murphy, the star-studded cast of Oppenheimer also includes Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Michael Angarano, Josh Hartnett, and Kenneth Branagh, among others. It will be released on July 21, 2023 by Universal Pictures, marking Nolan’s first film in over two decades not to be distributed by Warner Bros.

The journey takes intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton (Blunt) from London to the Amazon jungle to find an ancient tree with healing abilities that could change modern medicine forever, as long as it doesn’t end up in the wrong hands. Along the way, she recruits skipper Frank Wolff (Johnson) to pilot her through the jungle on his ramshackle riverboat.

Frank tells her that he’s been trying to find this same tree for a while now, but that it doesn’t exist. During their journey, the two will have to overcome animal and human threats that want to kill them.

Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti will also star in the film.

The feature from Annapurna Pictures is based on a 2015 memoir titled Not Fade Away: A Memoir of Senses Lost and Found by Rebecca Alexander. Adapting the screenplay is Lindsey Ferrentino.

The memoir tells the story of a courageous young woman who, due to a rare genetic mutation, is losing her sight and hearing. Despite it all, she battles her prognosis and faces the world head-on. 

The film is produced by Blunt’s husband, John Krasinski, and David O. Russell. According to Deadline, neither of them is wanting to direct the feature. Krasinski will also produce alongside Allyson Seeger via their Sunday Night banner with Russell and Matthew Budman.

Blunt most recent big screen performance was in Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns. She is also set to reprise her role on the sequel to A Quiet Place slated for May 15, 2020.

He comes across skilled warrior Rita Vrataski, who agrees to help him improve his fighting skills so they could defeat the extraterrestrial invaders.

Edge of Tomorrow starred Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, who are both expected to return for the sequel, along with director Doug Liman. Nothing is confirmed just yet, but Liman seemed to be pretty enthusiastic about the potential sequel the last time he discussed the possibility of it.

“Tom and I sat down with Christopher McQuarrie, who was one of the writers of the original, and suddenly started hatching a story that I loved more than the original, which I never thought possible,” said Liman.

Multiple sources report that Krasinski, who directed and starred in the original alongside his wife Emily Blunt, has been set to direct the sequel to A Quiet Place and Krasinski confirmed the news Instagramming a picture of the infamous red lights captioned with “…time to go back. #PartII 5-15-20.”

Sources also report that Paramount is in talks with the stars of the film for the sequel, including Emily Blunt and kid stars Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe.

While only costing $17 million to make, the horror feature hauled an impressive $188 million domestically and $144 million internationally. 

The second installment of the horror sensation is expected to arrive in theaters in the summer of 2020.
