Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman and Ariana Grande will be in charge of playing lead roles in this highly-anticipated project. The cast also includes the likes of Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key and Andrew Rannells, and Murphy will probably serve as a director.

The Prom centers on an Indiana high-school senior, who isn’t allowed to bring her girlfriend to the prom, and a bunch of Broadway eccentrics who decide to descend on her small town and help her fight the injustice.

The Prom adaptation is a part of Murphy’s mega-deal with Netflix worth $300 million. The six-time Grammy-winning filmmaker is also working on the upcoming TV shows The Politicians, Ratched and Hollywood.

The one-off event will be the show’s second Christmas special. The British comedy originally ran for two seasons between 2007 and 2008. It aired a Christmas special in 2008, which was followed by a third season in 2009.

Corden will be joined by leads Mathew Horne and Joanna Page. Rob Brydon, Larry Lamb, Melanie Walters, and Alison Steadman will also reprise their roles for the special.

“Over the last ten years we’ve talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey — where they might be today and what their lives might look like,” Corden and Jones said in a joint statement. “And so in secret, we took the plunge and wrote this one-hour special. We’ve loved revisiting Barry and Essex again and bringing the characters back together has been a joy. We’re so excited to get the chance to work with our fabulous cast and crew once more and to give fans of the show a festive treat this Christmas. Thank you BBC for helping to make this happen.”

BBC confirmed the announcement, saying it is “hugely excited” to welcome the show back.

Corden’s first deal with the network expires at the end of the 2019-20 season and he is looking to ink a new multi-year deal with CBS. According to sources, both sides have been in negotiations for quite some time now. Variety reports that final terms were still being hammered out so there’s no certainty that the deal will close.

Corden first signed with the network back in 2014 taking over host duties from Craig Ferguson. Back then, Corden was an unknown personality from the UK so some would say that CBS took a big chance on him. The new Melissa McCarthy comedy from New Line Cinema follows Carol Peters, a former corporate executive whose earnest yet unfulfilled life is turned upside when she is selected for observation by the world’s first super intelligence, played by James Corden. Host of The Late Late Show is set to voice this all-powerful AI life, which could very possibly be on the verge of taking over everything.

Production on Super Intelligence is set to begin next month with Steve Mallory attached as writer. 

This isn’t Corden’s first gig as voice star, voicing the titular character in Sony’s 2018 hit film Peter Rabbit. 

Super Intelligence will be released on Christmas Day, 2019.

Soon enough though they realized that it wasn’t going to be a regular cop pull over as after the LAPD car flashed its lights, it turned out the police officer just wanted to invite the duo to a fun sing along. 

As the sirens went off, Corden panicked, and said, “Oh, that’s the police. Hang on. What do the police want?” He then fumbled to turn the music off and open the passenger window. 

“I’m gonna pull you over so you can sing a song for me,” the sheriff’s deputy called out from the open window of his car.

“You want us to pull over so he can sing a song for you?” Corden responded, laughing in disbelief.

“Yes, because you’re causing a traffic hazard!” the sheriff’s deputy yelled back.

As he pulled over Corden added, “Oh my god. This is a real first,” along with some more nervous laughter.

Levine then pulled out the tried-and-true line most use when apologizing after getting pulled over and said, ”We’re sorry officer, it’ll never happen again.”

Promising to be careful the police officer simply drove off letting Corden and Levine off the hook. 

While Levine stayed cool, Corden was completely panicked.

“I don’t know what quite happened there,” he said turning to Levine asking, “How are you so chill? A Sheriff just pulled us over and you’re completely nonplussed by it. I’m panicked in my absolute core.

“Um, I think, well there was like a –me and Britney were, you know, like… well, you know, there was like a thing back then,” she admitted. “Oh my god, you’re going in!”

“It was a good time,” she said. “Are we saying Timberlake was the main dude in the MMC?” the TV host asked. “He had swag, I have to say,” she recalled. “[Even] back then, he had swag.”

As for Gosling, the “Beautiful” singer said that while many girls had a crush on him, his heart was reserved especially for one member. “I know Ryan actually, pretty much, he did have actually have a crush on Britney,” she revealed. “I mean, I think so! It was confirmed in July that the two were expecting. The couple were married on September 15, 2012 and already have two children, Max (6) and Carey (3).

As part of their aim to recognize Hollywood’s best work of the year, Dick Clark Productions announced on Monday that the cast of The Big Sick will be receiving the Hollywood Comedy Ensemble Award.

The rom-com was an instant hit with a 98% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Is stars Holly Hunter and Ray Romano who play the parents of grad student (Zoe Kazan) who falls in love with a struggling comedian from a Pakistani family (Kumail Nanjiani). In fact, The Big Sick is based on the real-life courtship between Nanjiani and a grad student who fall in love and their struggle due to culture differences.

Also confirmed on Monday as honoree is Jamie Bell, who will receive the New Hollywood Actor Award for his work in Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool. Previously announced honorees include Blade Runner 2049 producers A. Kosove, Broderick Johnson and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin who will receive the Hollywood Producer Award, and Sam Rockwell and Allison Janney, who will receive the Hollywood Supporting Actor and Actress Awards respectively.
