]]>Chan and Macchio are no strangers to The Karate Kid franchise, but their characters never met on screen before. Macchio rose to prominence after playing the karate protégé Daniel LaRusso in the original The Karate Kid from 1984, while Chan played a character based on his mentor Mr. Miyagi in the 2010 remake alongside Jaden Smith.
The upcoming sixth film in this franchise was written by Rob Lieber, with Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F***ing World) serving as the director. Chan and Macchio announced their return in a video shared on Sony Picture’s social media channels and encouraged young actors to submit audition tapes to KarateKidCasting.com, kicking off the search for the next karate kid.
It’s been a while since Jackie Chan’s last foray into The Karate Kid universe, but Ralph Macchio is a different story. He successfully revived the franchise alongside William Zabka with the hit spin-off series Cobra Kai, which centers on their characters Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence years after the events of the original film.

]]>Pascal’s casting is yet to be confirmed, but he’s currently a front-runner for the role, according to Deadline. Marvel is yet to officially confirm the news because they have to figure out the scheduling with Pascal, and they can’t proceed with casting other roles before locking down the actor who’ll lead the team as Reed Richards.
Even before eying this role, Pascal was one of the busiest actors working in Hollywood right now. He’s the leading star of Disney’s The Mandalorian and HBO’s The Last of Us, in addition to being attached to several high-profile films, starting with Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2 and Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls.
If Pascal manages to officially secure this role, he’ll follow in the footsteps of Ioan Gruffudd and Miles Teller, who portrayed Reed Richards in the previous two incarnations of the Fantastic Four franchise. John Krasinski also made a brief cameo as this character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

]]>According to the film’s official logline, it centers on “real-life warrior Hannibal, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest military commanders in history” and “covers the pivotal battles he led against the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War.”
Hannibal is best remembered for storming in Italy with his army, after crossing the Alps atop North African elephants, and his brilliant military tactics secured him a place in history books.
Washington reportedly wanted to play this character for 20 years, but he wasn’t ready to commit to a project of this scope because he was focused on raising his family. He’s finally ready to take on this role, and he found perfect partners in crime in his frequent collaborator Fuqua and the three-time Oscar-nominated screenwriter John Logan.
The Hannibal biopic isn’t the only historical epic that Washington is attached to. He’ll reteam with Ridley Scott in Gladiator 2, also starring Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, Djimon Hounsou, and Derek Jacobi.

They end up running over a unicorn that just happens to be the latest target of an eccentric billionaire trying to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.
In addition to Rudd and Ortega, this quirky project also stars Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Téa Leoni (Flirting with Disaster), Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Anthony Carrigan (Barry), Sunita Mani (GLOW), Jessica Hynes (Shaun of the Dead), and Stephen Park (Asteroid City).
Death of a Unicorn hails from the first-time director Alex Scharfman, who was also in charge of penning the script and producing the film via Secret Engine. The production already concluded under a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement this summer, with A24 co-financing it with Ley Line Entertainment and taking charge of its global distribution.

]]>Durkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene) joined forces with A24 to tell the tale of the highest highs and the lowest lows of the Von Erichs clan. They entered the world of wrestling during the ’60s and ruled it for quite some time, but their professional success was followed by many personal tragedies, sparking the talk about the Von Erichs curse.
The first trailer for this project is set to the beat of Blue Öyster Cult’s “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”, and it sees the dynasty’s two most popular wrestlers – Kevin and Kerry Von Erich – using camaraderie to overcome their wrestling opponents and their own bullying father.
Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White lead the way as Kevin and Kerry Von Erich, while the supporting cast includes Holt McCallany as Fritz Von Erich, Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich, Stanley Simons as Mike Von Erich, Maura Tierney as Doris Von Erich, and Lily James as Kevin’s wife, Pam Adkisson.
The Iron Claw will be released by A24 on December 22.
