Adele Lim, who made her directorial debut with Joy Ride and wrote the scripts for Crazy Rich Asians and Raya and the Last Dragon, is coming on board as a director.

According to Deadline’s recent report, the second season of Beef will center on two feuding couples, and it will start filming by late summer or fall. Brokeback Mountain and Love & Other Drugs co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway are reportedly circling this project, along with two of the biggest breakout stars of the past year – May December’s Charles Melton and Priscilla’s Cailee Spaeny.
Lee Sung Jin, who created Beef for Netflix, repeatedly said he’s open to continuing this story following the success of the first season.
“We always pitched the season to buyers as an anthology series. There was always going to be new characters. Whether it stays limited or turns as an anthology or we continue existing, that’s really up to Netflix. But whatever they decide, I’m definitely ready,” Jin previously told Deadline.

However, the feature was disavowed by the author since the version changed the book’s ending. According to Variety, Zemeckis’ film will be a more faithful adaptation of the novel.
The story follows Bruno, a 7-year-old boy who encounters real-life witches. Spencer is set to play Bruno’s grandmother. Jahzir Bruno and Codie-Lei Eastick are also negotiations to join the cast
Zemeckis will co-write the script with Kenya Barris (Black-ish). He is also producing with through their banner ImageMovers, alongside Alfonso Cuaron and Guillermo del Toro.
